  5. If you have access to a linux machine you can mount the .vmdk an pull the vender file and edited using the vender patcher tool, unmount the .vmdk and all is good that's how i did it and it worked ok. i do have 4 internal nics and i'm passing thru one to the xpenology machine
  6. you wont be able to on raid, i flashed mine to IT mode and even so with 4.3 you will have to install to a drive not connected to the SAS controller then re-attach drives on SAS and create a volune, you will have to repair volume everytime you reboot my opinion this project is a dead end if you really want to take advantage of your hardware, unless you want to stick with mobo embedded stuff
  7. you have to mount the .img file whic varies depending on what OS you use, I use debian and is fairly easy to mount the .img there once is mounted then you have to go to the folder a replace the files
  8. @trantor is the fix for the scsi/hba near? I only ask because if not I will move forward with a different approach, not demanding anything just like to know so I can make a decision thanks
  9. Upgraded using your instructions and worked great thanks
  10. @venom i'm tryin to update but it fails, i was able to do update one without issues, then i have to reload the entire system and since i have tried to update straight to update 2 without any luck , any suggestions? thanks
  11. I use PFSense as my firewall and have noticed that "activity" increases with the box turn on I will run wireshark and see also snort seems to be blocking more isthan usual Maybe I'm been paranoid haha
  12. I was looking around and people trying hack into synology ssh is a commonh thing, based on what I read at the synology forums, me personally going to change the default ssh port to something else here is how > /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.d/S95sshd.sh stop > vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config > /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.d/S95sshd.sh start When editing the sshd_config change the line #Port 22 to Port 10022 or some other port number.
  13. I have seen the same behavior on mine from same/similar address and others something about ssh login attempt failed I checked logs and did not find anything, doesn't mean something is not going on it could be because of identical serial numbers or Mac address I will change my macs to match my system as well as the serial number and see what happens
  14. thanks a lot that fixed it, now i can see all hd attached to SAS controller plus mobo, i had to modified both internalportcfg and esataportcfg in order to create more ports and see the hd's great work
  15. on a M1015 flashed to IT (basically LSI) 2 of 8 can you do a fdsik -l and see if at least all HDs are recocnized, have to ssh inti diskstation to do it unles you have a monitor attached to it
  16. Installed the update on barebones with M1015 SAS controller, but it is only recognizing 2 of 8 HD, all HDs were clean with Gparted btw. What I did was to load the latest .img to USB the unzipt the rd.gz and copy the .ko on the folder named modules on the latest beta gzip back and copy rd.gz back to usb. is that the right thing whne you say to copy .ko to /lib/modules? I tried both installing with all HD attached and then just installing to one mall SSD and then re-attaching HDs after install was complete, no matter what it only recognizes 2 og the HDs attached to the SAS controller Ok, did a fdisk -l via ssh and all the HD are listed, why will the webui only show 2? also looked dmesg and when mpt2sas loads it detects all HDs I know is a beta, just wanted to share my experience thanks for all the hard work

  19. trying to install 4.3 on barebones using a M1015 flashed to IT mode, this card uses the mpt2sas drivers which worked great under 4.2, the issue I'm having is that the HD attached to the M1015 controller are not recognized, I found kind of a solution on this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1361&start=80 however, when I use that zimage on the usb it does recognized the drivers but the i210 nic's are not and neither is the onboard SATA controller, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated the board is a ASRCOK E3C224 4l with a E1330 cpu, again the controller is a ServeRaid M1015 flashed to IT mode, the HD are WD Red 3tb
  20. any sugestions on how to get the mpt2sas driver in the v1.0 release to work with a M1015 on IT mode thanks
  21. i found it here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1361&start=80 it's a top of the page
  22. so I did some reading and found out an older mpt2sas driver on the request for driver thread that someone had compiled as .ko into the kernel, I replaced the zimage on the usb and the M1015 works, however the intel i210 network does not and neither does the onboard sata. so it is a driver issue. maybe it can be fix on the next update thanks
  23. Anyone using an IBM M1015 successfully I have been trying to get one to work under 4.3 without any luck. I can connect all 8 HD to the motherboard ports but that leaves me with 0 to use for DVD drive Any ideas Thanks
  24. any idea when 4.3 is going to be esxi ready? just curious don't mean to be pushy
