  1. They are two other very interesting NAS systems. QNAP released their GPL code so it might be not so challenging... The ASUSTOR is a new player of the NAS market who is belonged to ASUS from China mainland. Basically they are both Linux running on modified kernels.
  2. This might indicates Synology is starting to block XPEnology users from using their cloud based services.
  3. Would be happy to see the source too.
  4. Take a look at here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2018&p=12646&hilit=self+boot#p9776
  5. Can you post a screenshot?
  6. ESXi requires a lot more powerful hardware to run if I'm not making a mistake. Inside ESXi, use RDM to map your physical drivers that are previously used on your XPEnology may work, but remember to backup your data in case of data lose. Do it at your own risk. RDM can only be done manually through console, you can find some guide by Google.
  7. I see. It's not a minor update like update 4 for 3810, but a new version release. DSM 4.3-3827 build include security fixes, it's higly recommanded to update to prevent issues (like bitcoin miners...) My next beta will be based on 3827 build. Would you please fix the ESXi mount net drive failure problem as well? By the way using a usb sound card with ESXi DSM will crash it, no idea what caused it. I have a DS713+ running DSM 5.0 update1 if you need any help.

  11. Disk drivers are not recognized by usual controller Synology used so the answer is probably no.

  13. Change MAC and S/N and they will be gone. Otherwise change default port, have common ports opened on default port number is not a good idea.

  15. I once run into such problem but it turns out Video station required internet connection to work properly. Otherwise if you use "play" option from file browser context menu it will only support .mp4 files.
  16. That's very sad, can you tell us what steps you use to switch from trantor's image? 1. I have an vm already running trantor's DSM 4.3, but the CIFS is broken and it act weird when connected to a USB sound card so I decided to switch, I have two physical disks attached to it, both were in basic mode. The boot device is an IDE vmdk provided by trantor. 2. I use fedora livecd to write gnoBoot 4.3 alpha2 into my boot device, aka the vmdk. 3. Tried to boot. 4. Disk 1 showed up as "not initialized". Disk 2 was OK. 5. I switch back to trantor's ESXi 1.1 vmdk. 6. No luck, Disk 1 sill "not initialized". 7. I think I shouldn't try Disk 1 on my 713+ in order to prevent further damage. I'll connect it to a Fedora in order to see whether LVM volume still exist. Hope I still have some luck. 8. Since DSM store installed packages and their configuration within my Disk 1, they are all gone for sure now... 9. Don't do what I do, value your data.
  17. Turns out... gnoBoot doesn't support switching from trantor's repacked ESXi... I lost all my data on my first disk...
  18. Today I connected a Synology Audio port (It's actually a USB sound card with several output methods) which I used to use with my 713+ to my ESXi server. I found that my DSM on ESXi will crash if I play a song through the Audio port. It will not crash immediately, only after the song is finished will the problem show up. After that I cannot connect though both ssh and web interface of DSM, inside the log I can see "Audio interface registered" but nothing else. The USB Synology Audio port is manually assigned to DSM instead of working under passthrough mode because my CPU doesn't support it. Inside the Audio port there are one C-Media CM102S+ audio chip and a GL850G USB 2.0 HUB Controller. Any idea? Even how to debug it? Thank you all the same.
  19. Is gnoBoot 4.3 capable of upgrading to Update-4 patch released? If it is possible, how to do it?
  20. In video station 1.2 DTS support was included but was later removed due to legal reasons. I managed to get a copy of the spk but it won't install on DSM 4.3 or forward, any chance to get it working? Or even working alongside the latest version? Thanks all the same! https://app.box.com/s/ytqgku2858aktrt9quj5
  21. I'm also experiencing this. Seemed like a glitch within the kernel.
  22. You can find it here http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid ... 1713517929 password:cw27
  23. Can you teach us how to apply the patch and where to obtain it?
  24. Yes. Try to enable the COM-port in the motherboard BIOS. It's solved my problem. I don't have one, either.
  25. Since I've been looking around and failed to see any DSM build supporting my onboard dual lan BCM58877 broadcom controller, I compiled one myself and now I would like to share it with you. As broadcom suggested it will work with all BCM5778x chips. This zImage file I'm providing will do NOTHING on its own, it can only be useful when you do the following steps: 1. Find a working DSM 4.2 build, for example, this one: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=907 2. Write the *.img file into your USB/DOM. 3. Use Ubuntu or whatever method you like to open the two data partitions inside your USB/DOM (they should be there otherwise you failed to write the *.img properly.) 4. Remove both of the zImage files inside them(under root). 5. Rename the file bcm57788.zImage (linke at the bottom) to zImage and copy it to the two partitions. 6. Plug your USB/DOM into your computer and boot from it, soon it should appear on your home network. Or you can search it with synology assistant. Known issues: 1. The CIFS mount function of file station is not working. 2. Cannot set Jumbo MTU.(You can successfully set it but it's actually not working) 3. Non admin users' privilege settings seemed not working properly. attachment: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid ... 1713517929
