This was exactly my problem I had an Intel G3258 which is super over clockable but only has 2 cores. It sat for weeks indexing and wouldn't show anything. I tried loading 10 photos using the Photos web interface and it loaded them, however 2 didn't show anything other than grey boxes and all had a little loading icon running on them all the time. Clicking on them did nothing. Finally my midrange Xeon CPU arrived (Intel Xeon E3 1240 V3) and I swapped it in and was messing around with replacing a faulty drive. I checked on the photos and moments apps shortly after this and was happily surprised to see all my photos load up really quickly. I would vote for going on Aliexpress/Ebay and buying an old Xeon CPU. I think your Motherboard is an 1150 so the same Intel Xeon E3 1240 V3 I bought will probably fit, but CHECK your motherboard BIOS to be sure it supports it before you buy. Not all motherboards support Xeons. If you do opt for one from Aliexpress, I have bought four different CPUs from "JSF CPU Technologies Co Ltd" on four different occasions this year and all have worked well. You could also check ebay.

hardware transcoding depends on the intel i915 driver andthat one is not present in 3615/17 yes, but you should ignore the higher number of 918+ loader, there are 3 loades for dsm 6.2 and for for every type of the three it should be the latest loader https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/13333-tutorialreference-6x-loaders-and-platforms/ unknown, atm there are no sign that we will get a loader for 7.0 it depends on the person/group who creates the loader, if someone asks, i do have a opinion about it, but it also can be just driven by the need of the one person or to have low effort/time and building on the knowledge already present and just extending/modding the loader we already have in general units get 5 year support from synology so the 3615 were the 15 is the release year 2015 might not be continued, also its kind of redundant as 3617 has all and even more features then 3615 beside this you can still "migrate" between models and take data/settings and most plugins with it, so if you start with 3617 and feel 918+ suits better you just exchange the loader and install same or newer build of the other dsm type (matching the loader you used) same is to expect when updating to 7.0, it needs a new loader and if its not the same type it will be the special update called "migration"

The control panel CPU information is hardcoded to the DSM platform and is cosmetic. Your system is actually are using all the cores and hyperthreads. Changing to another platform will only net you more performance if you changed to a chip with >4 cores. Whether you should change to another platform or version is up to you and the features you want. It is also possible to make a mistake and make your data inaccessible. The problem that is most prevalent is that there is some incompatibility or procedural error which makes your system unable to boot post-upgrade. Your data is safe but then you have to work through the problem. Some folks are unable to figure out the problem and then elect to install from scratch, either ignoring or damaging their data in the process.

Modified /etc.defaults/syslog-ng/patterndb.d/scemd.conf: filter f_scemd { program(scemd); }; filter f_scemd_sev { level(err..emerg) }; # destination d_scemd { file("/var/log/scemd.log"); }; destination d_scemd { file("/dev/null"); }; log { source(src); filter(f_scemd); filter(f_scemd_sev); destination(d_scemd); }; Edit file and reboot. Result - HDD hybernation works fine now... My config: DS3617xs, DSM 6.2.3-25426-U2, extra.lzma v0.11.2_test.

Hi TNa. I was happy to see this post, as i also would be quite happy paying for the plugin. I did however install it successfully on my 3615xs and it is pretty straight forward. Log in as a user and "sudo su -" then when requested, input the user password for the account you're loggin in as. then type in "synouser --setpw root <YOUR PASSWORD HERE> This sets the root users password. Hope it helps. It is also worth reading down the full information on the link above as there are a couple more things to do to get this working. They're not difficult, but definately worth while doing.
