CSOL Posted January 19, 2023 #1 Posted January 19, 2023 I think this would make a kickass xpenology box, either native or through virtualisation. 2 versions will be offered, either intel N6005 or AMD 5800U/5825U. The 5 sata are on a JMB585 controller. What do people think? Quote
pocopico Posted January 19, 2023 #2 Posted January 19, 2023 Nice format but a bit pricey. 1 hour ago, CSOL said: I think this would make a kickass xpenology box, either native or through virtualisation. 2 versions will be offered, either intel N6005 or AMD 5800U/5825U. I think at 234EUR inc delivery it is good value, NAS cases like that go for 100+ last time I checked, this includes RAM, motherboard and a boot SSD. The motherboard is this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004880301486.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt 1 Quote
Eduardo Posted January 29, 2023 #4 Posted January 29, 2023 I went for it. Just hesitating. Should I stay on Intel N6005 default option or upgrade to AMD Ryzen 7 5800U? Not sure about best option for XPEnology. Quote
CSOL Posted January 29, 2023 Author #5 Posted January 29, 2023 Either would be ok I think, they just offered additional intel options as well. I have pledged also, but I have my doubts whether it will materialise or not... Quote
maxime Posted March 30, 2023 #6 Posted March 30, 2023 Did anyone of you use this mainboard for baremetal or virtualized XPEnology DSM 7.X? Quote
CSOL Posted April 1, 2023 Author #7 Posted April 1, 2023 Ask me again on June (hopefully) when they get delivered. They changed the design for the AMD system and instead of 1 sata from the CPU + 5 from another controller there are now 6 from the same controller. This means more lanes for the onboard nvme but you can no longer boot from SATA if you want to pass through the controller. Suits me fine as I have an SSD volume anyway for docker Plex and whatever accesses the system regularly, makes a big difference in noise. Also the design is 5x3.5 +1x2.5 anyway so all good. Quote

CSOL Posted April 7, 2023 Author #11 Posted April 7, 2023 I think it's a custom order so no link. 1 Quote

CSOL Posted September 3, 2023 Author #13 Posted September 3, 2023 Like all things Kickstarter they revised the timetable, they are saying they are on schedule to ship by the end of this month. They have shown AMD motherboard samples and case, you can see all updates at the storaxa Reddit. 1 Quote
