nols Posted December 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2015 Hi, I have installed XPEnology on an Gigabyte G33m-DS2R with an Intel Pro NIC and a LSI 9240-8i with 8 JBOD Drives. The Smart Data in DSM is shown for the Intel ICHR (4x SATA) and the Marvell (2x SATA) Sata Controller of the Gigabyte Board. Everything's works fine. The LSI 9240-8i works fine. Edited the Synoinfo, because of more than 12 drives. But in DSM the Smart Data isn't shown anything. But with telnet the smartctrl can show me everything for any HDD. Diverge Posted December 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 1, 2015 DSM doesn't use smartctl. Synology uses their own proprietary tool called synodisk. I have no issues with smart data w/ my LSI 9211 controller that is passed through in an esxi VM.
nols Posted December 1, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted December 1, 2015 Okay. So I know it works with LSI Adapter. Anybody know the path of synodisk? Maybe there is a chance to fix it.
Nofear87 Posted December 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2015 I have a IBM 5016 (Same as LSI 9265) that i passtrough from ESXI with JBOD activated on the card. It seems to work well, but the smart status and temp is not showing. I found this link about how to activate JBOD, maybe it will work for you: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.p ... ware.1827/ It seems like you can only get SMART status if you use a card compatilbe with IT mode, but then you will lose the cache on the card and just use it as a dumb passtrough device. Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet?
nols Posted December 20, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted December 20, 2015 Thanks. I tested many Firmwares with the LSI 9240 and the SMART Data doesnt work with XPEnology. I only see the data in Telnet/SSH. I crossflashed it with the 9211 IT Firmware and now it is working!
murile86 Posted December 22, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 22, 2015 I have the same problem on N54L withc LSI 9260CV-8i I can't see smart status
grotoc311 Posted November 4, 2016 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2016 Hi, I have the same issue. I have flashed my Dell H200 to LSI9211-8i. I can see with sas2flsh that NVDATA Product ID is set to SAS8211-8i and that the firmware is set to 19. So I believe that the controller is on IT mode. My xpenology recognize the six drives. With smartctl I can see the SMART data, but synodisk doesn't recognize the SMART data. In the controller name I have "SAS2008(??)". Could the "??" be the problem ? Thanks. Elpee Posted November 4, 2016 Share #8 Posted November 4, 2016 I have a flashcross of my Dell perc H310 to LSI9211-8i it mode with firmware 20. Everything looks fine with S.M.A.R.T.
grotoc311 Posted November 4, 2016 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2016 Yes, the majority made it works, so I don't understand what I did wrong. -> I followed the tutorial for flashing the H200 (https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2016/04 ... -and-h310/) and everything went well. -> I set up the disk in passtrough in proxmox with scsi0: /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:02:00.0-sas-0x4433221100000000-lun-0,size=2930266584K I can see the disk, I can see its smart value with smartctl in the synology but not with synodisk... I really don't get it.
