neonflx Posted March 18, 2014 Share #601 Posted March 18, 2014 finally got the latest gnoboot working bare hardware with xeon cpu 16gb ram and 8 3tb on a M1015 adapter, the only issue i'm having is nic speed is only around 35mbs which i know i can usually hover around 80, could be because the board has the i210 nic any suggestions thanks
gnoboot Posted March 18, 2014 Author Share #602 Posted March 18, 2014 You forgot to include the Ethernet controller, pm me instead. BTW, a few users were able to install gnoboot without any issues on hyper-v @nas1.cn . Hello! first let me thank you for your hard work, i just read about gnoboot and its looking really good I tried to install it under my hyperv 2012 r2 and got your alpha 10.3 and im having the same issue like offensive1985, there is no network connection when i use the normal network adapter. But when i use the legacy one i can find the diskstation in the dsm assistant. Your advise was the one in the quote, but i have to admit i dont really understand what you mean by that. But in the meantime new versions arrived so is it possible now to run the 10.3 under hyperv with normal network or do i have to run the legacy adapter ? Of course i would also be very happy if somebody else has an advice for me ! thank you in advance greetings simmboo I don't use Hyper-V, so it's best you try it first and then share your results. Hello,is it possible get get VirtualBox or Vmware Workstation working in xpenology DSM5? I think there are only the kernel modules needed and a debian chroot to get VMware Workstation working on xpenology. Do you think it is possible? Regards, Memo It should work, though, not the latest VMware drivers. helphow to change mac? gnoboot-alpha10.3-vfat You don't need to, but 10.3 has a broken /etc/rc.network. You have to manually comment out the line that modifies MAC address. finally got the latest gnoboot working bare hardware with xeon cpu 16gb ram and 8 3tb on a M1015 adapter, the only issue i'm having is nic speed is only around 35mbs which i know i can usually hover around 80, could be because the board has the i210 nic any suggestions thanks Try blacklisting e1000 using rmmod GRUB option. simmboo Posted March 18, 2014 Share #620 Posted March 18, 2014 I tried to translate the topics from nas1.cn about hyper-v and getting it to run with the normal ethernet controller but i didn't really find anything useful. I downloaded it again and tried to install again , but when i use the normal controller the synology assistant can't find the disk station. On the Drivers list on gnoboot.me is the hyper-v network driver listed as hv_netvsc. But i have to admit that im not really good with linux and i don't know how to "insmod" the driver. I booted again and pressed e , made a new line with "o" and then typed insmod="hv_netvsc" but i didn't work. Has anybody a tip for me ? greets simmboo

billytheczeh Posted March 19, 2014 Share #625 Posted March 19, 2014 Update on XenServer Paravirtualization I tried to run gnoboot using XenServer PV (pygrub), however getting error in Xen console when starting VM: Internal error: xenopsd internal error: XenguestHelper.Xenctrl_dom_linux_build_failure(2, " panic: xc_dom_core.c:616: xc_dom_find_loader: no loader\\\"") Which i found is result of XenServer having pygrub compiled WITHOUT LZMA/XS support for kernel compression (which holds for last XenServer release http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/330 ... z-support/) gnoBoot what compression are you using? (I could not find it using `file zImage`) Anyway in XenServer 6.2.5 (beta) LZMA/XS is supported so if that is reason why it is not working then i would wait for XenServer 6.2.5 stable release (https://xen-orchestra.com/testing-xenserver-6-2-5-beta/).
