  4. I've started such a topic some time ago, see here: http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1779 If only 30% of user's forum would contribute with some "how to" we could do a nice structured wiki page, but seems like we can't start it rolling. Admin doesn't have enough free time for board management, but let's see the bright side of it: the devs are still releasing and that's
  5. Ok. Thanks for the fast reply. The issue is that I have a HP N54L and it doesn't support VT-d. This is the only thing that prevents me to run DSM in ESXi. When I tested OMW(OpenMediaVault) SMART worked fine with RDM, so hopefully gnoBoot will figure this one out. @gnoBoot: Do you think it's possible to get SMART working running gnoBoot and Synology DSM in ESXi with Raw Disk Mapping? I don't think so. I've read it here that you need to enable/disable RDM filter to make it work. I just couldn't remember which thread it was. You have it all here sir: http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=558&start=320#p11381 How to check HDD SMART status: 1. Shut down Synology VM 2. Clear the RDMFilter flag on your ESXi server: - Configuration - Software - Advanced Settings - RdmFilter.HbaIsShared=OFF - Click OK 3. Start Synology VM 4. SSH login 5. Check the first RDM drive in the array: - smartctl -a /dev/sda
  6. @ ralphte: Good start, but I'm curious about performances, when you get there. PS: On Firefox 14.0.1 I cant see the content of your site, only the header and footer.
  7. At least you could discard those having less then 5 or 10 posts on this forum and just registered, asking directly for releases...

  14. No, USB is used just for boot loading, rest of install and config resides on your HDDs.

  18. Have you tried to do a reboot after your update procedure? From which version are you trying to update? I suppose you're trying to apply over the 4.3 build 3810 my offline package of v4 update. Try again my offline method but without connection to internet.

  20. @muhh: it is not so hard to customize it yourself after a fresh install but: @ Trantor: as more and more resources are directed to DSM v5, maybe would be good to have a final complete release with DSM v4.3 for ESXi .
