  1. for those who have migrated to update 5 , can you enable web station ?

i face this "the operation failed. Please log in DSM again and retry" if i want to enable it , put R/O or R/W access to web folder for group http (permission which was gone same as the others i guess) does not help)

webstation was not enabled before the update so not sure if there is a relation

also , i would like to downgrade , my only path is return to PAT stock so 4493 , is anyone knows how i could manually update to update 4 ?

    Thanks,

    XT

EDIT : downgraded successfully to 4493 "update 0" , i could immediatly enable web station , so now any guidance to migrate to update 4 would be appreciate

You can get all of the minor updates from here: http://www.xpenology.nl/xpenology-software/

Just choose the one you want & apply in the normal way.

  2. The reason DSM installs to all drives is redundancy, you won't actually notice it.

Xpenology isn't really an OS in the same sense that windows or OSX is, it's just a means to store & share your data to your chosen OS.

As for manuals, take a look in the guides section, there are lots to choose from. viewforum.php?f=15

If you really want to be as totally risk free & have support then buy a real Synology.

Oh & Synology is Taiwanese not Chinese

  3. hi All,

i installed update 4 last night, it appeared that it installed fine but after the restart there was an error in the log and notifications that due to some reason all volumes were unmounted. The error says "Abnormality detected in nameOfNas. All volumes have been unmounted." How do I mount the volumes again without loosing my data? Do I have to run a command through telnet? I only have 1 HDD installed in the system. I am not that familiar with unix/linux commands so any help would be much appreciated. It says in the storage manager that the disk is initialized. Does that mean I have already lost my data on it? I have apparently lost all previously installed programs and settings as well  Plz help

    Cheers,

There have been numerous reports of issues with update 4 that require several reboots to resolve. I would suggest rebooting your system at least once if not twice to see if that solves your issue, hopefully it will as it has for most people.

  4. 1: For a case you could try this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/thermalt ... se-w-o-psu it has 7x3.5" bays & 3x5.25 into which you could install something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000L6KJ04/r ... L2D5ZE7IPI giving you 12 bays.

2: Yes you can move your existing SHR array into a new box

3 & 4: You'll have to do a bit of research on the motherboard, as for sata cards HP & LSI seem to be well supported. Have a look here: http://www.gnoboot.me/p/blog-page_6.html for a list of drivers included in gnoboot, note however that not all of them are included in nanoboot.

5: DSM updates aren't automatic & require some work.

  5. Is XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.3 build 3827 available WITHOUT Esxi??

    And where???

If you'd bother bothered to spend 2 minutes looking at the forum you could have found it yourself, but here you go:

    http://xpenology.trantor.be/beta/

Yeah Yeah you wise guy..............dont you think that i have looked??

I am NOT that stupid as you think i am.

Well if that's the attitude you want to take when someone has helped you!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Just read about Schnapps issues so checked my server to find the volume was showing ok but my 4 2TB drives weren't showing in storage manager, rebooted a couple of times & everything appears to be ok now.

  7. Success in installation..

    5.0 4493 con Nanoboot.

    But..

    I can't connect to internet.

I've tried to search without any solution..

What do you mean exactly?, perhaps a better description of the problem to give people a chance to help you.

  8. The current boot loaders are designed specifically to work with the DS3612, as far as I know there isn't a version for the DS1010. Why would you not just use the latest DSM 5 from the Synology site anyway as you have a genuine box, or I am missing something.
