  1. Hi, I am trying to get both "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" to perform a manual update to 4.3 - 3827 o Manually Update to 4.3 build 3827 v8: 1. Transfer via ftp "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" to /volume1/public 2. Connect/login with putty/telnet and execute these 2 commands: cp /volume1/public/autoupd@te.info / cp -a /volume1/public/@smallupd@te_deb/ /volume1/ 3. Go to Control Pannel - DSM Update and press the Update Now button But every time i extract Beta8, i cant get see the "autoupd@te.info" and "@smallupd@te_deb" files. Any ideas? or am i going about this all the wrong way? Thanks N
  2. Same thing happened to me. but i cant update... I'm with Beta4... Maybe i need to update to beta8... Strange as i thought the beta's only included drivers.
  3. I am running XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.3 build 3810++ (repack v1.0). is it worth upgrading to Nanoboot 5.0.2.4? What are the benefits? Thanks N
  4. Hi, Great guide. I am in a bit of a conundrum.. I installed Xpenology via a USB and set up my 4x 4TB drives. What i now wish i had done was set up ESXi.. So is there any easy way to move to ESXi from a baremetal install? Thanks N
  5. There is no safe way to doing it. The safest way is to backup all your data to other disks out of your array (impossible for me as i have 16TB). So Safest way is to backup. If you cant back up then dont upgrade, if you have to upgrade, chew the pillow for a bit while you perform the upgrade!
  6. If its not broken, dont fix it. 8TB is too much to back up... so i am sticking with 4.3
  7. I had exactly the same thing, 8TB of data i backed up... then done a fresh build of 4.3.... i was on the same version as you as well before i got the virus.
  8. No ideas anyone? I'm stuck. Was thinking of upgrading to 4.3 Beta 7. What do you all suggest? Thanks N
  9. Having installed 4.2 on my hp micros server with a JBOD volume I thought I would do a complete rebuild to 4.3 update 4. I used a USB to SATA cable to copy all my data off. My 4.3 Update 4 install was easy and successful and my 2x 4tb disks had been turned into a 4tb SHR volume. So last night I plugged my USB to SATA cable in to copy from my backed up 4tb drive and it knocked the network card in the hp micro server offline. I had to perform a hard reset. Change the USB socket didn't change anything and it kept knocking the nic offline. Any ideas or suggestions? At the moment I am copying 4tb (with another 4tb to transfer later) over Ethernet at 10mbs..... Is anyone able to help? Thanks N
  10. That is a great idea. The reset to default button scares me, so i have ordered 2x 4tb drives to back up my current data. Then will attempt a restore. Thanks for the idea!
  11. What do you recommend i install on my HP N54L? I have V4.2 (1.2 repack) and ended up getting a virus?!? and now i am looking to do a clean upgrade so i know the virus is removed fully. DSM 4.3 repack 1.0 looks the safest best BUT DSM 4.3-3827 Beta version available (security fixes) is now out. What version do you think i should go to? Thanks N
  12. Is anyone able to help me So i followed this simple guide on the 4.3 virus thread: What I did (for other people having issues, its already described in parts in this thread, but again:) - Download the DSM 4.3-3810 v4 package from Trantor (see first post). - Unzip it (Mac: Stuffit Expander, Windows: WinRAR) - Make a directory on volume 1, called 'public' (as described) You can do this with SSH or in the GUI SSH: mkdir /volume1/public GUI: >ControlCenter >SharedFolders >Create (name it public, give at least the admin read/write permissions) - Copy the files 'autoupd@te.info' (<- thats a file) and '@smallupd@te.deb' (<- thats a folder) to /volume1/public by afp (or ftp) (just simply drag and drop it) Mac: Use AFP, Windows: use FTP - Move the files to their new location. CODE: SELECT ALL cp /volume1/public/autoupd@te.info / cp -a /volume1/public/@smallupd@te_deb/ /volume1/ - DISCONNECT YOUR ROUTER (or switch) FROM THE INTERNET - REBOOT THE NAS You can do this with the SSH or in the GUI SSH: reboot GUI: >reboot - Use the GUI: go to >ControlPanel >DSMUpdate - Click 'manual update' - Click 'cancel' (Now you need to see the 'update now' button) - Click that button I even had to sort these files out: Successfully stopped all process called lolzm, lolzb, synolog (killall lolzm lolzb synolog) Successfully deleted S99p.sh (main script that start 'lolzm' 'lolzb' and 'synolog' when booting) Successfully located and deleted the /lolz folder and its contents. Successfully deleted /opt/bin (where some modified versions of ls kill top ps where located) Successfully deleted /etc/ld.so.preload These steps below didnt seem to help so i had to revert these changes Successfully moved /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/ControlPanel/modules/upgrade2.cgi Successfully moved /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/ResourceMonitor/rsrcmonitor3.cgi Successfully moved /usr/syno/synoman/webman/modules/ResourceMonitor/top2.cgi It looks like i got the LOL virus, and now i am struggling to update I have follow the guide to the T, but when i get to the update screen, i cant for the life of me get the update button. Its getting to the point where im thinking of buying 2x 4tb drives to migrate off, to re-install DSM 4.3 to then migrate back.... Still my resource monitor is broken, think thats from the LOL Virus Now when i click updateDSM in control panel, it says no internet connected, you select ok, then the update window goes. BAD TIMES Any help, i would be happy to throw some beer tokens your way! NOW, Do i attempt to solve it (would mean some kind people posting up some ideas on fixing it) Copy all the data off to another 8th and rebuild the current volume? Try to upgrade to 4.3 and migrate. I assume there is a risk of losing my data? Thanks N
  13. Will the keep the data on my volume (8tb = 2x 4TB drives). What would you suggest? Thanks N
  14. Thanks for the reply but i think i may be in a worse state since tinkering... Still my resource monitor is broken, think thats from the LOL Virus Now when i click updateDSM in control panel, it says no internet connected, you select ok, then the update window goes. BAD TIMES
  15. Having had issues with my 4.2, is there a safe way to upgrade? i have tried the 2 files copied to public etc but that failed.... Thanks N

Hi Today my N54L arrived along with 2 x 4tb drives Out came the 250gb and in went the 2 x 4tb drives. I downloadedXPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.2 build 3211++ (repack v1.2). Downloaded and installed the disk image tool and wrote the image to USB. Off I went and powered the micro server on and it picked up the image file and looked like it was booting. Very linuxy with rolls of text scrolling. Then it just stops. Text still on the screen. When I press anything it prompts for a diskstation login and password. Boot takes about 1 min.. I have tried googling and guessing the password but no luck What an I doing wrong? Thanks N
