  1. Yeah, this worked. My array is now in the process of becoming an SHR-2 array. Awesome, thanks a bunch
  2. Thanks, I understand that but are you saying that I should make the array degrade on purpose by removing the 500GB? Then what?
  3. Yeah, data is backed up. Why would the swap from 500GB to 4TB allow me to change to shr-2? It would go from Disk 1: 1.8TB Disk 3: 2.7TB Disk 5: 2.7TB Disk 6: 3.6TB Disk 7: (Not initialized, reserved for upgrade to SHR-2) 3.6TB Disk 8: 3.6TB Disk 9: 2.7TB Disk 10: 466GB to Disk 1: 1.8TB Disk 3: 2.7TB Disk 5: 2.7TB Disk 6: 3.6TB Disk 7: (Not initialized, reserved for upgrade to SHR-2) 3.6TB Disk 8: 3.6TB Disk 9: 2.7TB Disk 10: 3.6TB Still 3 different sizes of drives.
  4. Oh boy. I am out of SATA ports
  5. Disk 1: 1.8TB Disk 3: 2.7TB Disk 5: 2.7TB Disk 6: 3.6TB Disk 7: (Not initialized, reserved for upgrade to SHR-2) 3.6TB Disk 8: 3.6TB Disk 9: 2.7TB Disk 10: 466GB The shitty part is that right after the 6.1 upgrade I 'initialized' Disk 8 which was previously unused as well.
  6. Tried it again. It seems that making that change to synoinfo.conf results in the diskstation wanting to reinstall.
  7. So, I reinstalled but I still don't see the option to 'Change Raid Type'
  8. I guess not. A quick google search found that I need to ssh and then sudo vi and comment out supportraidgroup="yes" and add support_syno_hybrid_raid = "yes". Just did it. Damn, now upon reboot, my DSM is asking to reinstall/migrate. Is this normal? Should I proceed with installing/migrating again?
  9. I have 7 drives in there right now as SHR-1, largest drive is a 4TB and I added a non-initialized 4TB to perform the change to SHR-2.
  10. Hello, does anyone know why I cannot perform 'Change RAID Type' on 6.1.3 update 8? That is the main reason I upgraded. I wanted to go from SHR-1 to SHR-2.
  11. Also, I would like to let everyone know that the migration went flawlessly. I even let it auto-update to update 6.1.3 update 8 and it's all good so far. Thanks to the OP for the great tutorial.
  12. I would like to thank sbv3000, using his advise, I will changed the PID/VID in the grub config file and made the rest of the changes at the grub console and the install proceeded fine.
  13. Sorry, just to clarify, are you saying that editing the s/n and mac BEFORE the install (hitting 'c' right after it boots) is the way to go? Like, don't let it boot with the default settings? If that's what you mean, it is weird that it works that way.
  14. Thanks, I will give it a shot
  15. Hi guys, I have a problem, I am trying to update an existing 5.2 system. I unplugged all the existing drives and just plugged in a spare drive just to test the hardware. I followed the guide with the VID/PID and MAC address changes. I booted from USB fine, used the browser to update the .pat (using DSM_DS3615xs_15152.pat) and it uploads it and then at around 56% progress a red 'Unknown exception' message' shows up and installation halts. The MB is a ECS NM70-I2 (V1.0) Intel Celeron 1037U 1.80GHz Intel NM70 I have an extra SATA Controller (IO Crest 4 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Controller Card Marvell Non-Raid with Low Profile Bracket SI-PEX40064) plugged in and I saw that a user said it worked out of the box for them. Any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.
  16. Last time I updated was to DSM_DS3615xs_5644 with all the updates up to synology_bromolow_3615xs upd5. The reason I want to upgrade is to go from 1 drive replication to 2 drive replication. Otherwise, I would leave it alone. My question is, which tutorial and set of files/loaders, etc is current and applicable to my current set up? Thanks
  17. Drivers requests for DSM 5.2

It is working on an older version of XPenology, I wonder if it is still working in the latest version. Thx
  18. ok then, I need the 4493 .pat and the nanoboot img I guess. Do we know if this is an in-place upgrade for existing 4,2/4.3 installations?
  19. Poechi, why do I need the new boots? What's wrong with the synoboot that trantor provides?
  20. Can someone give a quick pointer as to how to upgrade from existing working installation of DSM 4.2-3211 ? Perform the manual update from the update menu? Thx in advance
  21. I got this when I tried ethtool -s eth0 wol g "Cannot get current wake-on-lan settings: Operation not permitted not setting wol"
  22. ITX Hardware Selection - $400ish budget

I haven't been able to get WOL to work. Someone told me to try this: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1028&start=260#p6660 But I have not had a chance yet. I did use a hex editor to fix the MAC Address. I also used the scheduler and the NAS shuts itself off and turns itself back on just fine. I added a Syba mini pci-express SATA 3 card so now I have 6 sata ports. I also added a 4-port USB3.0 pciexpress card so now I have usb 3.0 ports as well but I have not had a need for them yet. I don't even need the 6 SATA ports yet, I have 4 disks in there. The case I used is an old Lian Li I've had for a while now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811112266 Takes standard ATX PSU but I did not trust the PSU I had so I used a thermatake 180w FlexAtx PSU I had lying around.
  23. ITX Hardware Selection - $400ish budget

Who do you thunk will carry the AAEON EMB-QM87A?
  24. ITX Hardware Selection - $400ish budget

I used a FoxConn D70S-P. Celeron 1037U. Only 17W. It could possibly handle 2 1080p transcodes but no guarantee. Only $80 though and only thing you need is some DDR3. p.s. I love your first 2 choices but are they available in the US?
  25. 4.3 issues

What is in there that is so appealing compared to 4.2? Let's assume that I don't care for anything other than pure NAS functionality.
