bagheera Posted November 16, 2017 #1 Posted November 16, 2017 As per title is it possible to migrate a HP N54L running Xenology version 6.0.2 to run on a Gen8 microserver? Quote
bagheera Posted November 16, 2017 Author #2 Posted November 16, 2017 As it is a baremetal install on the N54l could I take my USB boot up stick and all the hard drives out and simply insert into the Gen8? Quote
Dfds Posted November 16, 2017 #3 Posted November 16, 2017 Yes you should be able to, although DSM will most likely say that you have moved from another DS3615xs & ask if you want to migrate. I would however make sure that important data is backed up before doing it. Also make sure that you out the disks back in the same order. 1 Quote

Do I need to download any extra files if DSM asks if I want to migrate? Quote

Thats good because the versions are the same the risk is low, however you still need the file to carry out the migration process When you click migrate in the web setup page, you install DSM again as part of the process. bagheera Posted November 26, 2017 Author #8 Posted November 26, 2017 Successfully migrated with ease. Simply took everything out and put in the Gen8 with the HDD in the correct order and USB with the loader. Everything booted up without any problems and it DSM didn't even ask me to migrate 1 1 Quote
