Dell R620 install with PERC H710 Mini Raid controller

vicrod74

Question

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there has been able to get the hard drives recognized with a Dell R620?  I have a PERC H710 Mini Raid controller and I have flashed it to HBA IT Mode but DSM does not recognize disk array?  Do I have to actually set the disk to some kind of Raid?

I have a 620 with an H710 mini in IT mode working with Peters Suh's MSHELL. I built a RS4021 and had the power supply issue at first, but it has been solved.

What loader are you using? Are your BIOS settings correct?

Is it the latest built ?  I can't get a H710 or H310 mini to work on a R320 and it's flashed to IT mode.   What Bios setting are you using ?   I can only get it working with arpl-i18n-23.5.8 DSM 3622 the RS4021 will not see the H710 or H310 using MSHELL .    Would like to use MSHELL...

What do you think Peter if you read this ???

I'm using TinyCore RedPill 0.9.4.8 - Another issue I face is the network cards, they stop working after Launch DSM.   It pings for like a minute then it stops.

In LSI HBA IT Mode the drives are also not in the correct order in the Bios, i'm guessing i can fix that later.  My biggest issue is getting the LSI HBA Raid controller to be recognized by DSM.   I'm using DS3622+ build.

I did build the DS3622+ first with TCRP and it ran great.

For the NIC I used ./rploader.sh ext dsds3622xsp-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/tg3/rpext-index.json

One of these for the PERC card (cant remember which):

./rploader.sh ext dsds3622xsp-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/aacraid/rpext-index.json

./rploader.sh ext dsds3622xsp-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/megaraid_sas/rpext-index.json

Peters MSHELL works great for the RS4021 though. I didn't try it with the DS3622+ but it should be the same since they are both in the broadwellnk platform.

Ok I added the extension for the NIC card and that worked for me, however the extensions for the raid controller did not work.  I added both of the extensions.

My controller card is the H710 mini on LSI / HBA IT mode if this helps.

Read that post and use Peters loader , that should work for you. Try that Thanks  I rebuilt the RS4021xs+ in M Shell loader I put it in DDSML to see if it would work and YES it's working ! sas is back!  added a 10gb nic card and server is up and running.  dont add the extensions with this loader, it will add it as it see's whats needed...

Hello,

Just a quick bump on the thread here.  I had time to do some hacking today and I was able to use ARLP i18n (23.10.0.4) on the Dell R620.

All drives and network card auto detected and I was able to load DSM 7.2.1 69057 update 1 with no issue. :)

I'm using 3622xsp+ profile but for some reason the drives are not in the proper sequence.  Any tips to fix the mapping in ARLP?

Never mind, I figured it out 😂 - What a rush!!! lol

Just go into the BIOS and disable internal SATA /IDE because it's not needed anymore.  I only left the HBA card on then... BOOM!!

All in the right sequence after reboot! No need for manual mapping 😉

Dell R620 Server with SAS HBA controller in IT mode is now finished.
