FireMan 0
Currently I'm running a server with Xpenology on 2*2Gb of DDR3 memory. I didn't build it by my own but now I want to upgrade to 2*8Gb or so. On Google Search I found that there are only specific types of memory that works with Synology systems. Can I choose any type of memory as long as it fits to my motherboard on a Xpenology one? And what should I aware of? Thanks for your replies. Edited May 4 by FireMan

The search results you found most probably relate to a real Synology unit, you need to use the memory that is compatible with your motherboard.
