  1. I agree under GPLv2 they are required to. I was just saying in lieu of current source. Understood it is from beta, but it technically should work using the toolchains from current. I also have the beta toolchains and beta pat. I just hadn't gotten around to compiling it yet. Now that I have some free time I was going to mess with it.

Let me know your results ^_^

  2. Same here, i really like the Synology products, but the prices they ask for the hardware are crazy.

If they would offer somekind of software license that would give the ability to run the software like xpenology, i would insta buy it, and i'm sure many more would do that.

I finally modified syslinux.cfg and setup Quick connect ID. I tried Cloud Station but I don't like it at all. For 30 gigs of data to sync, it used 90 gigs on volum and another 30 gigs on my pc (plus the 30 gigs of the data).

I'm using DS file for remote access from Android and Sync Me app to one way sync photos/videos from the phone to NAS

Hi could you please provide a guide on how managed to get quick connect to work. I can't register or get an id

You need a valid serial and mac: https://xpenology.us/tutorials/miscellaneous/generate-valid-serial-and-mac

  4. SAS is more for enterpise storage. With SAS you will get better speeds.

SAS for home usage is abit overkill imo, SATA 6 will be fast enough in most cases.

Also, make sure xpenoboot supports the raid card, otherwise you are gonna have a hard time getting your drives to work.

There is a user with a 24 disk server, maybe look at that build for some inspiration?

  5. If anyone is updating and has a non standard disk synoinfo config (more than 12) then you will need to edit the file to put the hex values back. My 16 disk unit volume crashed because of this but once I changed the file it came back ok (after a disk check)

Makes sense, the file you edit is in /etc.defaults which get overwritten every update.
