RGM-111 Posted December 8, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2013 Hi, i'm planed to set u for a new ITX XPEnology, does DSM 4.3 support LSI MEGA RAID SAS, if i use LSI 9261-8i for my set up is it i need to create a RAID volume through the CLI / WebBios (LSI Option ROM on boot) before the USB synoboot to run? Or can the DSM to install and then create the RAID volume through the DSM ? Thank's for every bodys' help
neonflx Posted December 11, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2013 you wont be able to on raid, i flashed mine to IT mode and even so with 4.3 you will have to install to a drive not connected to the SAS controller then re-attach drives on SAS and create a volune, you will have to repair volume everytime you reboot my opinion this project is a dead end if you really want to take advantage of your hardware, unless you want to stick with mobo embedded stuff

gnoboot Posted January 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 24, 2014 DSM will always use disk name (i.e. /dev/sdX). Can you post your /proc/partitions and dmesg result? Let's work this out on my thread - http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2152.
RGM-111 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted February 8, 2014 http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2028 . Thank's stanza, Tried the latest 4.3-3810 pre-V1.1 beta 5, it can detect my LSI-9261-8i (as the 9261 didn't have IT mode support) i tried to create 1no RAID 5 VD with 4 disk. the Disk manager can shown MR9261 (RAID 5 VD treaded as 1 single disk) This set up would solve my issue n using the LSI9261 while drawback is all rebuild and disk handeling by the LSI-9261 instead of the DSM. Anyway thats a gerat improvemet for DSM to run with HBAs
