elmo124 Posted November 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi everyone. I am new here but I started quite some time ago. I have a Dell Optiplex 3010 i5-3450 with 16GB memory and for now 1 HDD for testing. I started with DS3615xs 5644. That worked local and I got enthusiastic. As I understand the 3617 can handle faster processors so: The past month's I have tried the DS3617xs with 6.2 or 6.1 or jun 1.04 or 1.03 or 1.0x ....... xxxxxx.pat Lets say I have tried almost all variations, but I got always stuck. Now I'm back to the DS3615xs 5967.pat which (i3-4130) is working fine !!! LOCALE. I now am stuck at setting up the NAS for external connection !!! Under Quick connect I need an Synology account which needs a serial number to registrate. Can anyone help me on this next step. thanks

DS3615 works fine. By the way, 1.04b is for DS918+ only, AFAIK..
elmo124 Posted November 3, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted November 3, 2019 I found the topic !! and are trying to get this work. The "duck" is no longer for free so no I try the No-IP. This (DDNS) is for a newbie "black magic" but persistent I will :D
elmo124 Posted November 3, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) Oeps. I started my newbe post in the wrong post. So I am quite "blond". But after a lot of work and setup a dns server at no-ip, I still don't know how to access my NAS remote (from PC or smart-phone). The http://xxxx.ddns.net and all variations won't connect. I did this also in app DS Cloud, but no results. When searching the internet, everybody keeps nagging about the QuickConnect ID. But that is just the thing: I (we) don't have !!!! I have a DNS-server name. Is there HELP from somebody, please. thanks Edited November 3, 2019 by elmo124
bearcat Posted November 3, 2019 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) @elmo124 after you have successfully made an account at noip.com and registered your chosen domain name there, you add that info to your DSM DDNS controlpanel as your screenpic shows. But, you must configure your router, to allow incoming traffic on the used port number (TCP/UDP), and point it to your NAS's internal IP (NAT). btw: It might take some time for your freshly made domain to "register and spread" (=become world wide active) and you may not be able to use it from your internal network, unless your router supports NAT-loopback. Hostilian Posted November 3, 2019 Share #6 Posted November 3, 2019 You need a valid Synology serial number to get a quickconnect ID.. Not worth the hassle if you don't have a legit one.. You could just use a VPN app to your router (on your phone) then connect to your Synology (once connected to your VPN).. I use that, rather than permanently opening a port to my Synology. My ISP also only charged a one-off fee (£5) to get a static IP address - which is handier than Dynamic..
