xpenologycacapee Posted July 10, 2014 Share #42 Posted July 10, 2014 I get 28W on load with an old 350W antec powersupply and a seagate 3tb hd. Sounds like getting a picopsu will only result in a gain of ~8W?
Schnapps Posted July 10, 2014 Share #43 Posted July 10, 2014 Using a picoPSU will not offer any benefit or just a tiny, useless one as the consumption of the machine will not change. What will probably change in consumption, is the use of a certified PSU. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

xpenologycacapee Posted July 10, 2014 Share #45 Posted July 10, 2014 Yeah. here's some watts lost due to power supply inefficiency. It might matter for extremely low power computers but us NAS users have to spend some power on the HDDs - so the percentage of gains will be much smaller.
