  1. QNAP has some nice cpu and hardware boxes but there OS Sucks !  QNAP box with Synology DSM software yes ! Synology needs to step it up, put in a intel or ryzen cpu with 6 cores 12 threads and 16 GB of ram... Would be nice someone would build a NAS software similar to DSM... Xpenology Rocks ! but these up dates are a killer to some. I'm running Xpenology on a Ryzen 5 2600 cpu with 16 GB of ram and 4 8 tb hard drives it ROCKS ! I also have Xeon 6 core boxes also running.  Hope this is not the end of Xpenology.  BTW I also have 2 Synology boxes a ds214 play and a ds920+ .  Also running OMV, TrueNas and FreeNas, 1 Qnap box. Just my 2 cents...

  2. While reading Important Upgrade Notes:

    I found this :

USB devices (Wi-Fi dongle, Bluetooth dongle, 3G/4G dongle, USB DAC/speaker, and DTV dongle) are no longer supported.
If your Synology NAS is currently connected via a wireless dongle, it will be disconnected after the update.

Could this be the cause that we can't update from DSM 6.2.3-25426 and above due to the update breaking all USB devices, so that means the Loader will not load !

    Hmmmm

    What do you think ?

the new 0.11.2 i already up so you could just copy the new 0.11.2 to usb's 2nd partition, it it does not work the way you need you still can put back jun's original extra.lzma

the loader compares driver from extra.lzma and whats on disk and overwrites it when there is a difference, so by changing the extra.lzma you can change the driver set you are using

if you are happy with the result (jun's extra) the just keep it that way, as long as you don't add newer hardware like a 10G nic you won't need the added drivers from 0.11

Going to test it, do I still have to empty /lib/modules/updates ?

that would explain the problem, i will fix it later this day but you should be able to get along the way i suggested above

I reflashed the USB with no extra and it updated to DSM 6.2.3-25426  Recoverd -- Do you want me to still  empty /lib/modules/updates/, while still running remove usb and replace the original extra.lzma with the new 0.11.1, put back the usb and reboot ??? The system is back up and running with no extra.

    please advise...

thanks for getting me back up.

more specifics is needed to say anything abot the driver, its a BCM5720 and thats tg3.ko

thats a normal lsi 9211-8i and i did test a fresh install with it

try to boot with jun's original extra.lzma, empty /lib/modules/updates/, while still running remove usb and eplace the original extra.lzma with the new 0.11.1, put back the usb and reboot

if that does not work you still can use jun's original extra.lzma, your system doen nor really need the new/added drivers

what dsm 6.2.x version did you used before the update?

I added memory to my baremetal setup and was unable to boot afterwards. The boot process hangs after the 1.04 boot selection screen. "Happy hacking"

    I went from 1x8gb UDIMM to 4x 8gb UDIMM.

When I reduced the number to 2x8GB UDIMMs I could boot.

I believe the memory is good. I can see it in the BIOS. I also tried moving sticks around and mixing and matching to no effect.

The system is a Dell Poweredge T30 with 6x 4TB WD HDD

The memory is DDR4-2666MHz PC4-21300 ECC UDIMM 2Rx8 1.2V Unbuffered

I'm using the 1.04b loader with the DSM_DS918+_23739 pat.

I couldn't really find others having this problem.

    Thoughs?

    edit: clarify problem

Check the speed of the sticks, they must match -  also they all must be ECC or Non-ECC can't mix that also.

Hello as title says I need help and I am very frustrated.. I have a HP Z440 workstation desk with 32 gig memory and 2 sata HD. I choose this system as it is very fast. I tried to follow youtube instructions but get to a point where I find my synology, it finds it but it goes about 57% and fails saying it is " probably corrupt".

I am using the following files:

    DSM_DS367xs_23739.pat

    Jun's_mod_v1.03b_ds3617xs.zip

Can I please get home help to move this forward ? I am not sure how to go from here.

    Thanks

Shot you a private message with a link to the image I used.

Good news and Bad news: Bad News is that my Dell R410 Intel E5620 2.4 gz  did not work using your loader, was not found on the network.  I had an Intel nic installed also

Good News it worked on my Dell 990 migrated from ds3615xs to ds3617xs

Thanks I keep you updated as I keep testing, BTW what are the specs on your R410 ? Did you add a Intel nic ?

Thank you to all on the board and Happy New years to all !

Dell PowerEdge R410 has embedded dual-port Broadcom NetXtreme II 5716 - driver bnx2.ko, suported by new 0.5 extra.lzma for DSM 6.2.2

also any 1 Gigabit intel nic should work as there there are recent drivers in the new package

so I would have to add the new extra.lzma 0.5 for ds3617  to work ? The Broadcom NetXtreme II 5716 - driver bnx2.ko is not working for me. I had added a Intel nic to get DS3615 to work on the 3615xs 6.1.7.51284

Hardware: Dell PowerEdge R410 with 6.2.2 24922 DSM version

    DSM Version: 6.2.2 24922 Update 4

    Install Method: Migration from 6.1.7.51284

    Results: Success

Notes: I migrated from from DS3615xs 6.1.7.51284 to DS3617xs 6.2.2 24922 for no real reason, just wanted to try.  All data was successfully migrated as well.

What nic are you using with this, did you add extra.lzma to the ds3617 loader ?

@painkiller895Unfortunately unless I am doing something wrong the 219 Nic does not work therefore Synology Assistant cannot find it. I do not know, I see posts that other people with similar motherboards (AsRock B360) the 219 Nic works fine on the 1.04b Loader. Does not work on mine though. Tried on ESXI and works fine. Tried on an old PC 4thGen Intel 4790K and again I could see the synology but not on this PC with that NIC.

    Any ideas?

    Try one of these

Dell Intel PRO 1000 PT Dual Port PCIe x8 Gigabit Ethernet Network Card G174P  or OEM Dell G174P Intel Pro/1000 PT Dual Port Gigabit PCI-E Network Card

You can get this on ebay these worked for me...

    Hi,

When searching with the words "9th gen" nothing comes up.

I would like to know if XPEnology will work with a 9th gen Intel CPU (Core-i5 9400F).

    Thanks.

it should work, try the 1.04b loader first.  Let us know how it goes...
