  2. Hi all, I have a q1900dc in use for a couple of months and the last days I am getting big issues. I have 2 wd red 3tb drives attached and the drives will drop into a crashed state. when I reboot all is fine again, the DSM does some cheking and all files are accessable again. this morning I did a s.m.a.r.t test to see if it was the drives, and one of the drives during that process went into crashed state again. can this be a drive issue or a motherboard issue, and how do I find out which it is? thanks Patrick
  3. thanks for the reply. which did you try the other solution he is referring to or the one in the answer? I don't have a linux machine, so could try with a live boot CD, and the connect the drive with a USB cable to the laptop with Ubuntu. would that work? How do I check which sdc my drive is?
  4. Hi all, yesterday I got a warning in my DSM that my volume had crashed. the DSM asked me to reboot which I havent done yet, i.e. the synology is still running. My system is the following: asrock q1900 2 * wd 3tb red nas both in basic (no protection) volume 1 is crashed. In the file manager I can still see some of my documents. in other folder nothing is visible anymore. The strange thing is I can't copy anything from the volume 1 to volume 2, even if the filemanager sees the files. What can I do, or is all the data basically lost? I just ordered 2 extra drives, hopefully to download some of the data, if not to set up a RAID to not have this hapen again. some of the data was backed up, but not all of it (most important, i.e. foto, music, docs where, all the films serie etc are lost. 1.7TB of data.. any help is appriciated
  5. bump. any ideas on the migratable issue which pertains?
  6. Guys, I've tried just about everything but can't seem to get it to work. I am using an old Viao laptop to test, asfter which I will go to a new dedicated board (Asrock). I have put the 4493 image on a usb stick (downlaoded the correct 4493 pat file from synology i.e. the main, not the update 1-5), started the laptop, started synology assistant on a different laptop. it shows the new Viao Synology (Saio) as migratable. double clicked it, go to the web assisstant. downloaded the 4493 pat file, uploaded it to the Saio. system reboots, however it remains in migratable, and can't get past that. any help?
