  1. Hey, aye thought so.. Thanks.

Even with concurrent access, it would still be better than a physical disk - so should provide some benefit.

The problem isn't with buying extra disks - it's SATA interfaces..

I have 6 SATA ports on a Mini-ITX board (all used), which has only one PCIE interface (used by dual port Intel NIC), so the only option might be to get a board with additional PCIE interfaces..

    Oh well..

Can anyone recommend a working (with Synology) PCIE SATA3 card please?

Preferably PCIE x4 but it depends on the number of ports..

Buy a Dell Perc H310 card the flash it into an IT mode. Confirm it works on both DSM 5.2 as well as DSM 6.0.

Or https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124064 if you don't mind 4 ports only.

  2. Hi there, i would buy an all in one fanless MB and the newer asrock are these:

    J4205-ITX Intel Apollo Lake

    J3455-ITX Intel Apollo Lake

    J3710-ITX Intel Braswell

    J3160-ITX Intel Braswell

i would buy the J3455-ITX that supports HEVC (H.265) 10b, is this supported from xpenology in all features?

ASRock J3455-ITX, bought from China Taobao.com.

Thanks but no thanks. Taobao and Alibaba are famous places where you can buy counterfeit goods.

  3. Another update 8 successful with Jun loader in less then 1 min on Bare metal.

Until Quicknick releases his new loader and we will have to test it, currently Jun loader is the best for bare metal nases.

  4. Guys,

These days I have seen a lot of (more then 80%) people who posted up here in this forum about their issues/ problems are running/ involving VMware ESXi. Unless you currently have trouble with your drivers what mostly forces you to switch to VMware ESXi. Why don't you just install XPEno directly to your bare metal and it saves a lot of headaches and time as well? I a year ago also tried to run VMware ESXi on my Nas, and a few months later I kicked it out. I definitely caused trouble on myself. All my Nases are now bare metal installed.

Yes, guys, please tell us justifiable reasons why your nas running on VMware ESXi?

    Thanks and cheers...

  5. Guys,

All my Nases are currently sitting on Jun loader 1.01 update 7 and running just fine with Btrfs without a glitch.

If you really need your nas now, go ahead and install it with Jun's then enjoy your holidays as I've been doing.

Trust me, the more time we're waiting the more stable the new release is. Therefore, do not push Quicknick he also needs holidays, IMHO.

I'll be back and check this topic sometime next year. Meanwhile, just enjoy the rest days of the year.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!

Thank you all and see you guys next year.

  6. I HACKED and have been using free Wi-Fi of one of my neighbor's successfully for over a year now on a torrent box and just a few days ago, while I was connected to that router I lost the connection and now all my torrent access no longer work. I restarted the box multiple times and everything works locally, but I'm curious if anybody else has been blocked from my neighbor when using a torrent to download porn stuff like me. I'm going to try hacking back into the neighbor's router I don't know why, other than a block, out of nowhere it would stop working. Has anybody else seen this behavior?

  7. Hello guys,

    ...

Anyways I would like to slow those funs. Any software based solutions or I have to solder the resistors?

    Thanks a bunch to everybody!

Rewire the fans. One from 5V line the other from 12V line. It's cool enough for your drives but much quieter.

Th first question has solution in the original Jun's thread. Somewhere. Someone recompiled recompiled file, all you need to do is to extract it to the root directory and let the folders merge with existing ones. It works.

It's from Arcao, and yes it worked for DSM 5.2 but doesn't' work at all on DSM 6.0.2. I asked him twice but he didn't reply.

  8. in my opinion only the "new" designed refreshed UI when log-in. I also stay at 5.2.

If you are using DSM to storage and copy files then you are right. For me ie there is a lot new features like:

    - letsencrypt

    - web server with option to choose you want to use apache or nginx

    - option to create and edit spreedshets and microsoft files

    - mailplus server and station

    - for many users most wanted btrfs

    - nodejs version 4

    - reverse proxy

    - many more new features

    Cool. Thanks for the list.

Except btrfs (maybe), as a normal home user, unfortunately I don't need the rest.

  9. It depends.

If you are currently using a (original) Synology Nas or you don't care much of your data, go ahead and upgrade to DSM 6.0 of XPEno.

If your value data is the most important, just stay with DSM 5.2 for now.

  10. Hi quicknick.

I have a quick question here.

Can I access XPEnology Configuration Tool BEFORE a successful installation? In short, I want to set MAC + SN + VID/ PID + Sata Port Mapping + Max of disks right after I boot the nas up for the first time.

    XPEnology-grub-menu.png

I tried to select "XPEnology Configuration Tool v2.2" when I see the menu at the fisrt time, but I cannot access XPEnology Configuration Tool. All I have is the screen of "Booting the kernel".

    Thank you for your inputs.
