Hey guys, trying to install any platform, I keep getting drives not found. Not using a raid card, its just the hdd controller on the motherboard. All extensions are being detected. I'm also getting "unable to detect if pat is encrypted" error on anything 7.2 no matter the version. I tried to go back and use the previous loader version, but it wouldn't auto add extensions. Any suggestions will be appreciated
For which model ?

Which loader are you using ?
Maybe you can check : https://github.com/pocopico/tcrp-addons/blob/main/wol/releases/install.sh to get an idea about how to set it up.
You will most probable need ethtool binary https://github.com/pocopico/tcrp-addons/raw/main/wol/releases/ethtool

During POST you are prompt to enter LSI menu for configuration, are you able to see your drives there ? Also if you try booting TCRP latest image do you see your drives with fdisk -l |grep sd ?

SCSI/SAS issue has been resolved by adjucting the disks addon. You can rebuild and try again.

One more information: when I program a shutdown/startup of my NAS, I got an error message like "settings not saved": but the shutdown works then... Thank you in advance
WoL will work for Network Cards that support it, mainly onboard cards. You can try if you have a setting on BIOS for power on by PCI-E ? Like :
Does your network card link stay on during power off ?

DSM 7.2 is RC now
I have the RC version installed already in one of my test systems and the feeling is that its not that stable as 7.1.1 is/was. Of course its your choice and you can decide whether the good operation is critical or not. If you have a stable system and there is no clear reason for you to upgrade, i would stay at 7.1.1 U6 (for now).

I think so. I downloaded most recent version from github. I noticed the 4th bootoption called "withfriend". After that I started DSM, boot option 1. I'm running it headless now. Can I check things remote for you?
To my knowledge, Microservers G7 are having issues with kexec so no Friend for NXX. You can instead use the staticboot option on user_config.json and in case of an upgrade, selecting TCRP Friend will process an upgrade but will reboot and default to USB after that.

Hi Pocopico ! congrats for your hard work
all is fine under Storage Manager , I think the slowness are due to the high temperature , I am more concerned about what happened before , I've more or less reproduced the same problem on pluggin that SSD on new build , it has never been recognized , then I have seen similar message at this morning saying to connection has failed and I had to try to reconnect to DSM ... I have not rebooted since , maybe on next boot it'll be same
anyway , I know the data can't be lost , I have reconfigured what I have lost (mount , etc ...) , next time I'll backup settings from DSM ...
You might have wrong internalportcfg setting on synoinfo.conf. Can you please check by running :
grep -i internalportcfg /etc/synoinfo.conf

ok , meanwhile I've read that installing / reinstalling DSM do not touch data partition , I have reinstalled DSM 7.2 using your loader and PAT downloaded from Syno portal , all data are there.
I found everything more slow , it's hot now here , more than 30° C in the room
I still don't understand what happened ? from now , I am not sure I'll plug too many HDD at same time .. I can't believe what I am saying ...
EDIT : Thinking about it ... I am now booting on another USB drive which I know is slower than the first one , when any settings are saved in DSM , where this is stored : on the USB key (which I think) or somewhere on system partitions of the disks ? That slowness could be explained by poor performances of the new USB drive ..
and as DSM never appears anymore using first USB Pen drive (loader boot but DSM never came online) , I can imagine a corruption somewhere on the loader , is it possible to troubleshoot this , restore backup to try to come back to previous version or something like this ? any possibility to backup settings from first USB drive to restore to second ?
Thanks
XT
Hi, DSM might have decided to perform a volume data scrubbing. This actually read and writes on the volume a lot and some slowness might be experienced during that process.
Can you please check "Storage Manager" under storage -> Storage Poll and see whats the status ?
You dont need to care much about the USB disk speed, thats only used to boot the kernel and ramdisk. DSM is stored on DISKS.

something REALLY strange happened
DSM up to date , two external 2.5'' HDD plugged via USB , copy in progress , I plug an external SSD 2.5'' drive from there nightmare began ...
one of the two 2.5'' HDD has been ejected , the SSD is not recognized , quick google research tells me to reboot ... on next reboot no more network , Synology Assistant find the Proliant not configured ?!? , it tried to apply DHCP then said failed ... reboot on build mode, I notice a backup being restored , maybe this happens all the time I don't know , network is recognized , I can access with SSH but I decide to not do anything so reboot on DSM : still nothing found
What should I do next ? do a fresh new build on a second USB stick ? something else ?
Have I lost all my data ?
EDIT : I've decided to redo a build using another USB key , I've verified all disks are seen while I was on build mode , with that new USB key , synology assistant see my Proliant , propose me to download PAT and install it , if I do this , will I loose all my data or is this will just wipe the system partitions on the disks ?
Else , any idea of what I can try to do on original USB disk so DSM can work again ?
Thanks,
XT
When you re-install you can select retain configuration. This will keep both your data and your configuration. If you dont have this option, it will warn you that your data will be lost. If you get that message then stop ! Boot from a live linux distro and get a backup of your data.

Hello everyone, sorry for the translation problems.
So the problem with all buildroot loaders is that you can't kexec on HP Nxx because it causes a KP.
You can instead try to start directly, e.g. selecting USB on boot and setting staticboot on user_config.json to true.
Maintenant, après une mise à niveau DSM, vous pouvez sélectionner une fois le démarrage TCRP Friend, puis sélectionner USB une fois le correctif terminé.

Thank you! I reinstalled the dsm, now all work perfectly.
You asked me, set SataPortMap=888 and DiskIdxMap=00.
It is good for me? Or what is the correct numbers?
Its a try and error situation. See what works for your case.

What can I do now? How do I access my documents? DSM is dead. Even samba doesn't work.
How can I downgrade the system? Or reinstall?
If I change the serial number, will it reinstall the dsm?No you can stop at count down of TCRP Friend by pressing <ctrl-c>
Then you can type bfs and hit enter, this wil force DSM to boot in junior mode and you can re-install keeping configuration.

I dont remember the old 7.1 diskidxmap and sataport values.
The CLI satamap now command gives back SataPortMap=1 and DiskIdxMap=10. The web version detect 0 and 8.
I tried both, same result: "Booting up the system. Please login later!"
So the HTML Builder returned 0 ? Thats a value that DSM will not accept and in the past caused a KP. Thats good to know also. So since you've tried with the exact hardware configuration, Can you please change to SataPortMap=888 and DiskIdxMap=00
