BobC Posted January 26, 2024 #1 Posted January 26, 2024 Hi, So 3 of my clients' DS1515+ servers died. I was able to get 1 working by replacing the PSU. The other 2 motherboards were fried. I would like to avoid throwing those carcasses in the land fill. Synology doesn't supply motherboards for systems that old. My question: Is there a motherboard from any company that would fit in that case? Maybe with a better CPU? Thanks Quote
pukodar Posted January 28, 2024 #2 Posted January 28, 2024 (edited) Hi, look for Chromebox-like computers, they can fit there together with external M.2 SATA controller. Pinouts of backplate can be soldered directly to SATA cables. This is motherboard from Asus UN45, for example. Edited January 28, 2024 by pukodar Quote
BobC Posted January 29, 2024 Author #4 Posted January 29, 2024 I had forgotten what a Chromebox was because we don't deal with those. We do handle Intel NUCs which has i series CPUs. So now that I'm thinking miniPC a whole lot of possibilities open up. Thank you. Quote
