User Posted January 8, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi, I'm looking for the best NAS Hardware I can get for about 100€ to 150€ (without drives). In this thread http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1093 the HP N36L/N40L/N54L MicroServers are recommended. Is this still the best choice today? I would be willing to put the NAS together (CPU, RAM, MOBO) on my own, too. RAID isn't necessary for me (but maybe nice to have), wake on lan should be possible and the energy consuption shouldn't be too high. (And I want to run XPEnology on it...). pastrychef Posted January 8, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 8, 2016 When I first started to try out XPEnology, I did so with an Intel SS4200. I bought a used one for $75US. The great thing about the SS4200 is that everything worked including WOL out of the gate. I had XPEnoboot 5.2-5592 running perfectly within half an hour. User Posted January 9, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 9, 2016 Thanks for your advise, but for me it's not important to set it up fast, just the value i get for my money. And I still think that the N40L is a little bit better on this side.
ded Posted January 10, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2016 Dell T20 is better than HP but bigger. Price is very atractive for that performance and silent.
