ESXI - RAW hard disk as external USB device

Hello everyone,

 

Is it possible to connect physical sata hard drive with raw *.vmdk to Xpenology on ESXI host as external USB device? I can connect it easy as normal hard drive but i have to setup new partition and delete all data. I would like to connect my sata hard drive as usb stick because I want move it between another host without loosing data.

This would require a virtual USB disk, which is not a feature in ESXi.  This is why the loader is a disk image - because there is no way to connect it via USB.

 

Just buy a $20 pluggable dock, put your drive in it and pass it through.
