I'm running the DS3612xs_3202-Repack build, obviously like most energy efficiency is a concern, there seems to be no function within the Synology OS too see what CPU speed is reported or any energy saving methods.

Looking via the terminal running cat /proc/cpuinfo there is no power management listed and always displays the CPU as max Mhz,

I have tried an AMD FX 6300 and a Intel Xeon E3 1230V2

I'm trying to get my hands on a kill a watt type device but these seem pretty rare in the UK and only cheap devices exist.

Does any throttling go on via the Synology OS? i.e. PowerStep or AMD Cool and Quiet?

Looking at reviews of the DS3612xs the idle wattage is over 100watt! on a Sandybridge i3 (3200?) which seems high to me, do they not use any form of throttling at kernel level?

My nas's wattage can be seen in my signature. I never measured it in idle, standby, etc. I was too lazy.

By the way, why would you need a beast like yours to hold some TBs as a nas?

Which beast are you referring to? The AMD or the SuperMicro Super Server?

AMD cost £150 to build

The SuperMicro Super Server e3-1230v2 is my main ESXi ZFS Server, Lab box, was just trying DSM on there for fun
