jokerigno Posted April 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2019 HI all, I have a xpenology server running DSM 6.1.5-15254 on a Dell T20 barebone. I would like to move to a VM solution in order to increase his potentiality (running a VM for Home Assistant - Hass.io, another for DSM, another one for Kodi in Windows so I can use philips hue sync etc). Question is: how can I achieve it without losing data?
Olegin Posted April 3, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2019 1. Install VMWare ESXI to the new hdd or flashdrive (needs min 4Gb) 2. Make xpen VM with drive for loader only. Here is files to make boot drive for 6.2, but you can use it for 6.1 by replacing synoboot.img. In grub, cfg you need to change load position to the "...VMWare/ESXI..." 3. Passtrough HDDs or controller to the xpen VM 4. Start VM
