But I don't get any network. When I import the VM on VirtualBox everything works. Do I don't get an IP because of the VMWareTools? How can I install this when DSM not installed already? This are my settings in the VM: --> I changed the Mac-Address for the Jun’s Mod V1.03b loader

I can see the boot menu, and choose the installation type for ESXi and after that I can see the "normal boot screen" which display the kernel boot etc.
luchuma Posted August 23, 2018 Share #29 Posted August 23, 2018 And thats why you have problem.Sata 0.0 is unseen by The dsm And why you import vm ? Just create New linux For examples Debian 10. Bios mode. 1cpu 2cores2gb ram. Sata 0.0 loader. And New disk sata 1.0. If you have problem ill try to make video. In your first answer you said "add existing vmdisk synoboot.vmdk as sata 0:0" and now you saying that sata 0:0 is unseen by DSM? I don't think so. I can see this screen... luchuma Posted August 23, 2018 Share #31 Posted August 23, 2018 You see this because vm see disk. Dsm will not see that disk And i see you are using 1.02 loader? In 1.03 it stops at find.synology.com Wysłane z mojego SM-G930F przy użyciu Tapatalka

michel30 Posted August 25, 2018 Share #33 Posted August 25, 2018 Hello all, I Hope someone can help me with a new set up to move from my laptop to an ESXi server without loosing data. My set up at this moment. I have a Lenovo laptop t61 with the USB boot Jun’s Mod V1.02b and build in 2TB laptop harddisk. I want to move an ESXi server on a computer what is the best way? Boot ESXi from an USB stick? And follow the steps on the first page? But how do I add the 2TB disk? to keep the data? Can I also use USB disks on the synology NAS "esxi" ? or is the best way to leave esxi and just do it the same what I had before plugin USB boot Jun’s Mod V1.02b and build in 2TB disk in the new computer...? luchuma Posted August 25, 2018 Share #34 Posted August 25, 2018 it depends how many VMs you want to run if one or two then try install xpenology baremetal. you can install esxi on PC and buy second sata controller so you can passthrough sata controller to the xpenology vm and use esxi disks with new pci sata controller

nosaj66au Posted October 19, 2018 Share #37 Posted October 19, 2018 (edited) Hi All, This is a great tutorial and I have followed it to the letter many times (10+) over about a month now. However without fail each DSM instants fails after an hour or at best with in a couple of days. I have tried loading different packages hyper backup, cloud back even just surveillance on the DSM instance, but within a few days its dead. Normally the first thing i see when opening the browser (ipxxxxxxxx:5000) after it has died, is the synology default page "sorry could not find page" !!!! The instance seem to disappear and no comms are available not SSH, find.syno.... , nothing. If I stop and start from ESXi it look normal and prior to the failure everything related to DSM operation is as I would expect. Auto updates are turned off!!! The only way to recover is delete the second drive and adding a new drive back but as you would expect this just build the DSM from scratch and I lose all my data. Any help greatly appreciated.
