Most of us have already installed ADM and tried to get the codec working in the normal method before we found this thread.  That is why we get the MD5 mismatch when trying the script...

For me the fix was to uninstall ADM, reinstall ADM and then run the script, without opening ADM first this time ;).

Working perfectly for me now. After patching, I open it and it shows the codec installed.  Testing shows it to be working too.

    Thank you Wangsiji !!!!

hello what is the script to run?

There is no definitive answer to this question.

It all depends on your needs and your hardware.

If you only need DSM, maybe baremetal is easier, except if your hardware is not compatible with baremetal DSM.

thanks again for all the replies.
I thought baremetal was more stable than a vm on proxmox.
    Greetings

    OK all clear!
but is it better to install the loader on a usb drive and run DSM natively on my pc, without using proxmox?

no I didn't stop DSM during the restore!
sata 0 is my arpl, in fact it is 500Mb, while sata 1 of 32 Gb is disk 1 of dsm,

however the problem occurred during the recovery and not during the backup.

While recovering backup , the proxmox server it seemed heavy, yet the cpu was not at around 24%

where DSM is installed is the applications

for the network card I set the virtio.

Come vengono fatti i tuoi backup?

Hello Orfeo thank you for reply!

the problem does not appear when i create a backup of any vm, but when i restore any vm.
I backup the VMs directly from the proxmox gui.
here is my DSM vm configuration:

  6. Hello everybody,
I installed promox 7.2 on amd AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics.
Proxmox is installed on two sata raid zfs disks.
It has happened several times that while restoring a vm from a backup, the vm where DSM is installed crashes, and shuts down.
while the other two VMs running Homeassistant and a weather server work without problems.
I can't figure out why the dsm vm crashes, resulting in loss of disk data on which various dsm applications are installed.
Where do you think I could start from to understand what makes DSM insyable on a vm in proxmox?

    Note.
during the recovery phase of a vm, proxmox almost always becomes unreachable.

I hope someone can help me 🙂

You need to passthrough the ethernet controller (best performance) or try virtio/virtio-net (should work). vmxnet is capped in unraid for me too.

hello  I'm trying your loader, could you also make a guide for proxmox?

    what is Synocode Patch ?

    and nvme (NVMe als Cache)?

If you want the disks to be possible to be read by a physical system in the future i would choose directly.

i asked this question because my disks crashed and i don't understand why, the proxmox sevrer never shut down, this morning i found pool 1 in raid one with the message that they were read only. on reboot it appeared that pool 1 and poll2 two crashed ... now I can't access my data anymore, and on pool 2 I also had a backup ..

  9. Hello, I hope someone can help me, it's the second time i lose data.
i installed automated redpill on proxmox, this morning i had some disks in read only, also i have a backup s internal disk.
In practice, after restarting the nas this error appeared:

    what can I do?
does termional can I run some command to scan the disks?

Is there any chance in getting the acpid driver to properly shut down VMs? If I build a vm, install qemu-guest-agent I get all features except the ability to shut them down via the gui. It's clickable, but the VM never soft shuts down. I've tried 918+, 3622+, DVA3221 ; doesn't work, and I can't remember if it's ever worked for any DSM 7.x builds. I install the redpill-acpid diver fom pocopico's ext repository without issue.

hi were you able to install qemu-guest-agent proxmox drivers on DSM?
can you tell me how to do it?

  11. I try to open again, I would like to know if it is correct that from the menu on the right in proxmox it is not possible to shut down or restart DSM.

    image.png.5ecca669dbb5747d43d007ac48b53476.png

in the sense that I try to restart or shut down, but DSM always stays on.

but by chance the Qemu-guest-agent should be installed?

    No, I understood you :)

I don't think it's possible to take the disk in its current form, insert it into a running diskstation with other disks and retain the data on it. Your disk is not simply a disk with a single partition and some data on it, once it's been initialised in a diskstation it has a load of partitions and data on in addition to wherever you store your personal data.

If the disk was the *only* disk in the original DS1621 and you insert it into a bare diskstation with no other disks you may be able to migrate the disk and recover the data.

As you're using a hypervisor anyway (proxmox, right?), you should be able to test this by making a copy of the disk in question, creating a new diskstation VM and adding the copied disk. See what happens and let us know how it works out :)

I have already done so on proxmox, the disk sees it but it must be activated and DSM to add and activate it tells me that the data will be destroyed.
