I'm a newbie to Xpenology. In fact, I haven't even got it installed yet because it appears that my hardware needs the updated intel driver which maybe we'll get with the 5.10 kernel. Whenever I tried to install (a couple months ago) the Synology Assistant could not find my server - but no other errors were showing up. A few people elsewhere on this forum helped troubleshoot the most likely cause was that my intel NIC chipset was not getting a proper driver. My question is: what comes next? What is the general chain of events that need to happen before this new Synology kernel gets built/referenced from the tiny redpill loader? Thanks! Andy

I see, thanks, @wessu. It makes sense since the motherboard is pretty new (by my standards, anyhow). Appreciate your help, guess I'll need to find some different h/w or get a different ethernet board as you suggested. @rojoone2 Thanks for your help trying to get me operational. It seems that with no appropriate ethernet driver the machine is not coming onto the network. Once I get compatible hardware hopefully I'll be back on the board with a success story! Andy

Ok, thanks. That's pretty much what I've done but I noticed in the troubleshooting that if it doesn't come up for Synology Assistant then the network didn't get configured. DHCP should not be a problem. So either there was a kernel panic or there's no network driver. I guess I need to hook up to the serial port to get more info on how to proceed?
