FWIW the script doesn't recognize "now" anymore and you cannot specify the mac address with realmac.  It just takes the actual MAC from the hardware.  Same result though, as long as you were typing in the hardware MAC.

    ./rploader.sh serialgen DS3622xs+ realmac

The only way to specify your own MAC address that is not the hardware MAC is to edit user_config.json yourself.

still not getting an IP from the 2.5gb card, albeit i am getting an IP when installing the TCRP loader tho.

Put the my own mac in still nothing.

  5. Thanks mate,

I have now ordered an Perc H200 card to flash to IT mode.

I tried to get the DS3622xs setup but it wouldn't give me an ip from any of the ports, so i disabled them.

I have a 2.5gbe card for my pc put it into the server and that gave me an IP address, used the real mac and port for that card.

loaded up the broadwellnk on the flash drive for DSM 7 but i get no ip, nothing from the router, so cannot boot from that to install DSM.

Will dig a bit deeper into trying to get this work.

    cheers for your help mate

  6. Thanks bud, I have ordered a perc h700 card to flash in IT mode.

Will look into the  DS3622xs and give it a go.

I don't know anything virtualization of any kind, but willing to try.

    Cheers

The R710 is such a beast to only use it as a NAS. But you will probably have issues with the disks being recognized with the Perc 6i.

I don't believe there are drivers for that card and I'm unsure if can even be flashed to IT mode.

Have a look at this thread where members have had some success with Jun's Loader (DS3615xs and DS3617xs) and DSM 5 and 6  on a the R710:

Give the DS3622xs+ a try if you want DSM 7 using a test disk in one of the bays to see if the 6i would pass through and give access to the disks.

Would like to try to get DSM 7 on it.

Does this server support 12tb drives, need to test it.

  7. As per the heading

what dsm can i put on the R710

do i need new hardware etc to make it work.

no experience on server related stuff before.

I also want to use plex on it, but i can add a GTA 660 card for it, not bothered about that at the moment.

    just need guidance guys

    4 onboard nic 1gb cards

Got win 10 installed on it at the moment.

    Cheers guys

PS would prefer to install BareMetal if i can.

  9. Thanks goes to @IG-88 for getting this sorted for me in the 6.2 build as the DS918+ only has 2 lan ports.

    edit synoinfo.conf located in /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf maxlanport="2" I changed it to 8.

    Also edit /etc/synoinfo.conf maxlanport="2" I changed it to 8

Reboot you now have all mac addresses showing

Thanks goes to Pocopico and Peter Suh for helping me trying to get this sorted.

Edit: Now I got my 10gb NIC working.

If you see disk activity, then probably there is no KP. Several people complain about the 10min wait for IP. did you leave the system up for about 10-15 mins and still dont get an IP ?

No mate, I get an ip within a minute without the 10g card,

But waited about 5 mins when card is in, so I could try the 10 to 15 min wait and see what happens.

Do you have any serial console ? I think you might get kernel panic because of the ixgbe modules. Do you get any disk activity ?

No serial console, disk activity yes I get noise from hdd as its trying to boot, if that's what you mean mate
