  1. Hello,

I have been using the VPN server application on DS918 + 6.2.3. for a long time. I haven't been able to connect to all devices via VPN since about yesterday. It should be a Synology DDNS certificate issued by R3.

I tried to renew the certificate and create a new one. Unfortunately, the problem still persists. When I tried to start the OpenVPN server on the Asus rt-at56u router, everything worked.

The extract from the log is as follows

    Any ideas?

Have played around with building 920+ Loader.

The good news is he is booting and redpill is loading.

The Bad News is the installer dont detect any HDD's.

In the serial log the Device is there, but i think the mapping needs some modifications for 920+.

    Testet in Promox.

Are you saying ds920+ (not 918+) loader might be possible with some additional work?

  3. DS920+ is great option for Plex. It's capable of many 1080p transcoded streams and 2 4K HDR transcoded streams. Even HDR tone mapping works if you use linuxserver.io docker package for PMS. Btw you really want to avoid transcoding anyway except for remote streaming if you have terrible upload.

All you need is to avoid burning in subtitles. Use text based subtitles (.srt) and avoid the image based ones (PGS, VOBSUB). Keep in mind that LG TVs force burning in any subtitles if transcoding is needed. You would need the fastest CPU for that.

  4. Probably caused by HDR tone mapping. Native PMS on Synology does not have necessary drivers to do HDR tone mapping using GPU and so video transcoding is done by GPU and tone mapping by CPU. To utilize GPU for both video transcoding and HDR tone mapping, You need to use docker linuxserver.io PMS version which have all drivers.

So first try to turn off hdr tonemapping in PMS settings to make sure that the problem still occurs.

  5. Yes, I tried some 4K HDR HEVC remuxes but not sure if a transcoded content is encoded to h264 or HEVC (most likely h264). I strongly recommend to avoid video station because it doesn't support DTS, TrueHD and even EAC3. You can forget about HDR tone mapping as well.

    Just go for Plex pass.
