    I'd like create a new VM to test 6.2 with 1.03b, but I can found any vmdk for 6.1.

    If I use the vmdk from 1.01, it will stop at boot, and cannot be detected in find.synology.com.

    I have already set the boot option to BIOS, but still cannot boot.

    Does it mean that the synoboot.img only work for 6.2?

    So, I have to install 6.1, and then upgrade to 6.2, and replace the synoboot.img after upgrade?

    The vmdk just loads the img file. It runs in a VM for me in bios mode.

    I´ve got the problem that the system boots up, gets found by synology assisant, but i can´t reach it in the browser. Afterwards the system shuts down and I have to do the same procedure again.

    Any ideas?

    Btw.

    Which Serial Number do you use in the grub.cfg guys?

    What CPU do you have? Try it without a display plugged in the MB. I use a valid generated SN, but you only need a valid one if you want hardware transcoding in Video Station. The SN doesn’t have to match the model and you also don’t need a matching MAC.

    Hello, I tried loader on my PowerEdge R710 with Intel Xeon E5520 on ESXi 6.5 and it's seems that network not working, because it's not getting an IP address. Could it be caused this by old CPU? Thank you.

    Yes, DS918+ doesn’t seem to boot on anything older than Haswell.

    Thanks for your answer AndreyATGB. 👍 Great for me to hear that "no configuration (is) required". 🙂Hope it will be the same at my system after upgrading with new Loader. What Model did you choose before with DSM 6.0 or 6.1 ?

    Perhaps i try it in the next days with Juns Loader 1.03a2 (or a newer one) at a new/ another USB-Stick and DSM 6.2 for Model 918+. If there are problems I go back with my current USB-Stick and old Junes Loader. I will report then.

    Was on DS3615xs, be careful with migrating though. In theory it shouldn't touch the data partitions but you never know. Going back will require another migration and I'm not sure how it's gonna handle a downgrade.

  5. You don’t have to reset and there’s only one model for DSM 6.2 right now (918+). If you boot the new loader, it’ll ask you to migrate or clean install DSM (neither affect your data). Personally I migrated and all my packages worked just as they did in 6.1, no configuration required. Keep in mind that while for me the loader has been stable, it might not be as good as 1.02b as Jun hasn’t officially released it.

  6. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

    - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2-23739 UPDATE 1

    - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.03a2 - DS918+

    - Using custom extra.lzma: NO

    - Installation type: BAREMETAL - H110M-ITX - G4560

    - Additional comments: Login page loaded quickly, actually being usable took a couple minutes.

    Huge thanks to AndreyATGB ! This was indeed the solution of my reboot issue when using hardware tanscoding.

    Do not plug anything on your graphic ouputs otherwize DSM will crash when using hardware transcoding.

    If any wire is plugged and system is on, you need to unplug it and then restart before using hardware transcoding.

    Very interesting, great to see someone else replicate it.

    Sorry for rushing in, but I have a Plex Pass and for me Hardware Acceleration is working with Plex and Videostation.

    I am running DSM 6.2 on a DELL Poweredge T30 with an Intel Xeon E3-1225 v5.

    Yeah but your CPU actually has an iGPU.

    Unrelated to the quote, I reinstalled DS918+ and as before, hwaccel was crashing after 5 seconds. I've also tried Plex with hwaccel and that was crashing instantly. However, I've unplugged the monitor and rebooted the system and now both VideoStation and Plex work with hwaccel, no more rebooting. I've tried both BIOS and UEFI boot and they both behave the same way, it seems transcoding works fine with a G4560 as long as no displays are connected.

    Good point, but the one with the hardware acceleration option is on a DL380-G7 (X5660 CPUs) which I don't believe have an iGPU either.  I think Plex build for synology machines just don't have this option, which kind of make sense since it probably wouldn't work anyway.

    I find it hard to believe it actually works with no GPU. If you play a video that requires transcoding (HEVC for example) does it say -hwaccel in top as an argument to ffmpeg? Plex for Synology definitely supports it, you need Plex Pass and a compatible loader. There's people with Plex Pass running with hw accel on DS918+ for example.

  11. Loader version and type (918+):  1.03a2 DS918+

    DSM version in use (including critical update):  DSM 6.2-23739 Update 1

    Using custom modules/ramdisk? If yes which one?:  None

    Hardware details:  MB: ASRock H110M-ITX, CPU: Pentium G4560, NIC: Intel I219-V

    Hardware acceleration in VideoStation causing system reboot after 5 seconds, Plex reboots instantly after playing a video. Interestingly, hwaccel works perfectly for both if there is no display plugged into the motherboard.

    The option for hardware acceleration doesn't seem to be available for the DSM installed plex server.

    Wouldn’t that be because the E3-1220v3 doesn’t have an iGPU? I was under the impression that you need a GPU of some sort to use hardware accelerated encoding.

  13. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

    - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.1.7-15284

    - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.02b - DS3615xs

    -  Using custom extra.lzma: NO

    - Installation type: BAREMETAL - ASRock H110M-ITX, Pentium G4560, 8GB RAM

    - Additional comments: REBOOT REQUIRED

  14. Installed on my H110M ITX with a G4560. Using a valid SN (MAC unchanged) I got activated codecs.

    root@NASTest:~# cat /usr/syno/etc/packages/VideoStation/codecs.conf
    support_codec_h264="yes"
    support_codec_vc1="yes"
    support_codec_mpeg4part2="yes"
    support_codec_aac="yes"

    It starts transcoding with HW accel according to top, CPU usage is at 25%:

    /var/packages/VideoStation/target/bin/ffmpeg -ss 0.000 -vaapi_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -hwaccel vaapi -hwaccel_output_format vaapi -noautorotate -i /volume1/video/testvideo.mkv -r 24 -vcode+

    However it reboots after seemingly exactly 5 seconds after the video starts playing. I'll see if I can find more detailed logs. I can't find anything in any of the files in /var/log/, they all skip the time the crash happens at, the kernel log is just the boot process which repeats right after a crash as expected, but there's nothing in between them.
