Right now there are 2 8 TB drives only with a Asrock J4105-ITX board. Actual power consuption 30 - 35 watts. At a later stage I may add up to 2 more additional hard drives. Total power consumption will not exceed 70 watts. Pico PSU could be OK. I prefer a case. Any idea?

Danke. Habe aber leider in einem Testbericht gelesen, daß "das DS380 ein auffällig lautes Gehäuse ist". Ich suche ein Gehäuse, welches flüsterleise im Wohn/Schlafzimmer stehen kann. Es müssen nur die Platten gekühlt werden.

Da ich im englischsprachigen Forum keine passable Antwort erhalten habe, versuche ich es hier noch einmal:
Für einen "Wohnzimmer-Server" suche ich ein sehr gut gedämmtes also leises Gehäuse. Ich habe ein J4105-ATX Board. Z. Z. nutze ich ein Shuttle HTPC Gehäuse, welches sehr laut (Festplatten sind nicht entkoppelt) ist, und die Platten liegen ungünstig am Lüfter, so daß sie warm werden (ca 45 Grad bei keiner bzw. wenig Last). Daher suche ich ein neues Geäuse für 4 x 3.5 " Platten oder eventuell für 6 Platten. Das Netzteil von Shuttle würde ich gerne weiter nutzen oder eventuell auf ein externes Netzteil umsteigen.
Könnte mir jemand einen Tip geben?

I am looking for a very silent case for my mini atx Asrock J4105. It should have (at least) 4 bays for 3.5 " drives. Right now I am using a Shuttle XPC cube case which is very noisy. The server is placed in an one room apartment. Therefore, any noise is very anoying. And I would like to use the existing PC61J 300 watt 80 plus power unit from Shuttle. I am not interested in design but in low noise.

Das freut mich. Ich war schon kurz davor, eine original DS 918+ zu kaufen, weil es einfach nicht rund lief. Die Frage, die nach 3 Monaten erfolglosem "Bastelns" bleibt, ist, warum nur wir beide ein Problem hatten.

There is a programm from Asrock to change it. However, it is a DOS programm which does not work with UEFI.

Ich habe eine komplette Neuinstallation durchgeführt. Mein Raid ist Raid 1 mit 2 x 8 TB Seagate Ironwolf. Auf dem alten System J3455 hatte ich 3 x 4 TB 2.5 " als Raid5 und der Aufbau hat Tage gedauert, so daß ich die Geduld verloren habe. Grundsätzlich glaube ich, daß das Asrock J3455 Kompatibilitätsprobleme hat. Leider ist jetzt der Geräuschpegel und der Stromverbrauch stark gestiegen (von 20 Watt auf 30 Watt und die Festplatten sind gut hörbar).

Ich spiele gerade ein Backup zurück. Dabei erhalte ich Spitzenwerte von bis zu 140 MB/s. Ich bin überzeugt, daß sich alle Probleme mit dem neuen Board erledigen werden.

I finally changed the board from J3455 to J4105. Now everything is working as expected.

Ich bin über wlan angebunden. Die Datenraten sind normal.Das ganze System läuft auch viel "runder". Ich habe zur Zeit 1 Ram Riegel mit 8 GB (Crucial CT8G4SFS824A).

Aber jetzt habe ich ein neues Problem: das Asrock J4105 bootet nur im UEFI Modus. Daher kann ich die MAC Adresse des Boards nicht flashen. Schade.

Ich bin auf ein Asrock J4105 gewechselt und habe jetzt 3.5 '' Platten. Mit dem Asrock J3455 habe ich alles 3 Monate lang versucht, ohne Erfolg. Ich bin mittlerweile überzeugt, daß es am Board lag.

I switched to another board: Asrock J-4105 ATX Now TVHeadend is running in a docker container smoothly. Since I tried 2 different J3455 boards and 2 different NUCs the problem must be related to the Asrock J3455.

Danke, aber bei mir geht es um IPTV ohne Treiber. Als letzte Möglichkeit hatte ich noch probiert, einfach einen IPTV Stream (rtp - multicast ) in einen http Stream mit udpxy in Docekr auf der NAS umzuwandeln, was das Problem nicht löst. Es scheint ein Problem mit dem Netzwerktreiber (Realtek RTL8111GR) zu geben. Es werden entweder Pakete unterdrückt oder sie kommen in der falschen Reihenfolge an, was beides zu Continuity Counter Errors führt. Wenn ich den IPTV Stream mit udpxy in einem Raspi in einen http Stream umwandele, dann funktioniert es mit TVHeadend auf der 918+. Bis es eine Lösung gibt, benötige ich also 2 Geräte, NAS und Raspi, was ich eigentlich vermeiden wollte.

Die NAS soll - wenn möglich - ohne Lüfter auskommen, da es sich um ein 1 Zimmer Appartment handelt, welches nur zeitweilig bewohnt ist und stromsparend sein, da 24/7 Betrieb. Der Zugriff erfolgt vor Ort per WLAN mit max. effektiver Übertragungsrate von 50 - 60 Mbyte/s und sonst über DSL mit max 40 MBit/s und später im Jahr 100 Mbit. Daher ist die Geschwindigkeit der Platten nicht entscheidend.
Was mich aber wundert ist, daß der Aufbau des Raid5 sol lange dauert. Bei meiner 2 NAS (N36L mit 3 x 6 TB) ging der Aufbau des Raids 5 sehr schnell. Und meine Frage zielt auf die Detailabfrage:

Ich bin dabei, meine stromsparende NAS (Asrock J3455 - 8 GB - 918+ - 0.8 von IG-88) neu aufzusetzen. Neben einem anderen Problem mit TVHeadend scheine es noch ein weiters Problem zu geben:
Das Erstellen eines Raid5 bestehend aus 3 4 TB 2.5 " Seagate ST4000LM024 dauert unsäglich lange (insgesamt mehr als 100 Stunden). Wenn ich nun den Fortschritt anschaue, sehe ich folgendes:
md2 : active raid5 sdc3[2] sdb3[1] sda3[0]
7804393088 blocks super 1.2 level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [3/3] [UUU]

Und wenn die Details anschaue, sehe ich:

Warum steht dort hda3 und nicht sda3? Könnte dies der Grund für die langsame Erstellung des Raids sein?

Es geht mit Virtual Box. Da gibt es Anleitungen hier im Forum dazu. Ich selber habe es auf einer N36L eingerichtet, nutze es aber nicht, weil es zu "zäh" ist.

I tried several setups on my Asrock J3455: 1.02b with 3615+, 1.04b with 918+, 1.04b and real3xmod with 918+, 1.04b and serval extra.lzma from IG-88 with 918+
When playing iptv live streams either on TVHeadend or Emby using rtp I get errors and the stream does not play smoothly. The same stream plays smoothly when using http. Unfortunately, most of my streams are rtp.
Is anybody aware of how to fix the rtp stream issue?
