  2. Ok now it's seem working 😃

I needed to delete all the modules in /usr/lib/modules/update and reboot. Now i have the /dev/dri device.

The HW transcoding is working on the first movie, but after i have playback errors.

  3. Yes about i915.ko not in  /usr/lib/modules/update directory. But an lsmod show me that i915 module is not loaded at all (even the one from synology in /usr/lib/modules).

Currently i don't have a Plex Pass, because i don't want to spend money for nothing if it didn't work.
Do you have another solution to check hw transcoding.
For me if no /dev/dri exists no software can use the HW transcoding.

  4. @Olegin i use the extra.lzma from the russian post and i don't have an i915.ko module in /usr/lib/modules/update, so the /dev/dri is not created :(

In the russian post there a reference to another extra.lzma file of a person who have remove the optional modules and download the last i915 firmware. As i didn't speak russian, can you help me to find me the reference to the informations to use this ?

  5. Hello,

    I have an ASRock j4205-ITX.

    • With the jun extra.lzma file the module i915.ko KP at boot and no /dev/dri was create.
    • If i use the extra.lzma of @x01015918 that don't have the i915.ko module and remove the i915.ko file from /usr/lib/modules/update directory: like i expected the i915.ko module (the one by synology in /usr/lib/modules) is not loaded. So i have no KP but also no /dev/dri because the module was not loaded.

So for the one that have a working i915 module that work on ASRock j4205-ITX can you give me the i915.ko file you use with the md5sum of the file please.

Can somebody test extra.lzma from my previous post on ASRock-4205-itx or 3455-itx? Seems that hw transcoding will be work.

@Olegin, i have check your extra.lzma file on my ASRock-4205-itx. I doesn't see the /dev/dri  entry. So it doesn't work.

I have only your extra.lzma file in my synoboot2 partition (no extra2.lzma).

Do you have a specific Bios or Bios setting ?

    Back to the Asrock boards:

    J3455B-ITX: works

    J3455-M: works

J3455-ITX: i915 driver fails which explains why /dev/dri is missing:

    I've tried:

    • all official versions of the J3455-ITX BIOS including the newly released 1.80
    • flashing the J3455B-ITX and J3455-M BIOSs to the board using an external flashing device
      • the J3455B-ITX BIOS booted but for whatever reason said it was a J3355B-ITX and wouldn't get past post saying the CPU didn't match the BIOS.
      • the J3455-M BIOS also booted but the model string was incorrect
    • all combinations of BIOS settings
    • installing 6.2 using 3615 bootloader, then upgrading to 6.2.1 and the 918+ bootloader
    • changing the GPU priority to PCIe and sticking in a PCIe video card

All of the above failed :(

It looks like the original release of the 918+ boot loader works on this board so maybe something to do with the newer i915 driver @jun put in?

    Hi,

    same problem on ASRock J4205-ITX.

Seems the new i915 driver that doesn't work for this motherboard.

/dev/dri is created successfully on my ASRock J4205-ITX if boot from fedora.

So it's not a BIOS problem but a kernel module problem.

no, to much problems, tried something like this with 2 people and got no proper feedback, took to much time and its kind of exotic, time is more useful invested in basic drivers like nic and storage (at least from my point of view)

    Thanks IG-88 for the reply.

I have compiled the driver for my USB wifi dongle. It works: i can use iwlist to see neighbour networks.

My problem is i don't see the WLAN0 device in the DSM web interface. Do you know what to do so the device can be seen in the web DSM interface ?

  9. Hi,

My server (DS916+ DSM 6.1.4-15217 Update 5) is working well.

I have buyed aTPlink TL-WN821N N300 (v5) wifi dongle and compiled the kernel module for my NAS.

The kernel module is loaded successfully:

    # lsmod | grep 8192
    8192eu 1623057 0
    usbcore 176590 17 etxhci_hcd,usblp,uhci_hcd,snd_usb_hiface,snd_usb_audio,usb_storage,ohci_hcd,snd_usbmidi_lib,ehci_hcd,ehci_pci,usbhid,usbnet,8192eu,ax88179_178a,xhci_hcd

I see the wlan0 interface with iwconfig:

    # iwconfig wlan0
    wlan0 unassociated Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>"
              Mode:Managed Frequency=2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
              Sensitivity:0/0

Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
              Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I can put the wlan0 interface up:

    # ifconfig wlan0 up
    # ifconfig wlan0
    wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr C0:25:E9:13:9C:31
              UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

              collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
              RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)

And i can see wifi network:

    #iwlist wlan0 scan

I see the usb wifi dongle in the DSM web interface under Configuration Panel -> Server Infos -> External devices -> USB devices as: 802.11n NIC - Realtek

The problem is that i can't configure the wifi dongle in DSM web interface. It said i need to insert an usb wifi dongle ....

Is an expert known what to do so the DSM web interface can configure my USB wifi dongle ?

    Thanks,

    JrCs

  10. Bonjour,

     Merci
