    Tengo un HP Microserver Gen 8, si lo quieres nativamente necesitas arranque directo en el cargador activado. Es una opción de configuración del cargador, al menos en arc y arpl-i18n.

     

    Tengo Proxmox en varios pcs y funcionan perfectamente con la Intel E1000, incluso con Realtek u otras.

     

    La integrada del HP Microserver Gen 8 son 2 nic Broadcom, que tienen que estar activadas en bios. Para Proxmox te da igual, son virtuales.

    Hola a todos,
     
    Tengo un Hp Microserver Gen8 y queria actualizar al dsm7 con Redpill Loader. pero me emcuentro que no reconoce la tarleta de red (no le asigna ip y da error).
    Para solucionarlo con Dsm6 instale una tarjeta de red pci de intel y con la ultima version de jun que tenia los drivers me la reconocio.
    Que puedo hacer ahora? hay alguna version de redpill que incluya los drivers de red????

    Tienes que usar en Hp el direct boot.

    El tg3.ko para las tarjetas Broadcom lo tienen todos los cargadores.

    So, first first step; I should check current released version of arc boot loader version and this version add which synology version support.
    After that if it is support latest update of synology then I should update first arc boot loader?
    After that I should update synology server.
     
    Am I right ?
    if yes;
    should I make arc bootloader backup before update it ?
    if yes;
    what is the backup process of arc bootloader, is there step by step guide ? Because I really don't know.
     
    and after update of arc bootloader, should I update synology manually or I can just click update button on synology update section ?

    Since Arc 23.10.1b update.

    - If you have DSM 7.1 with Arc, you can update to DSM 7.1.1.

    - If you have DSM 7.2 with Arc, you can update to DSM 7.2.1.

    Backup of Arc bootloader only if you need to upgrade loader is necessary. If you haven’t backup, only you need change your s/n and mac manually and configure a fresh loader from 0. Two minutes lost.

    - Update arc boot loader, read wiki for arc. 

     

    DSM Update

    You can Update to every new Version of DSM until the Major-/Minor/Smallfix will not change, without Loader Update. Ex.: 7.1 -> 7.1.1 or 7.2 -> 7.2 Update 3 but not 7.2 to 7.2.1 (This need a Loaderupdate, too.) 

     

    Note: All build later than 23.10.1b will have livepatching - If a new DSM Version is found and your Loader doesn’t support this, the Loader will try to get latest source from Github. If there is no Update at this time, you only have to wait for the new files and boot again.

     

    - Update DSM, read synology documentation.

     

    You can download the .pat update file from Synology Download Center and update DSM manually.

    To update DSM manually:

    Visit Synology Download Center to download new DSM update to your local computer. The .pat file does not need to be extracted.

    Click Manual DSM Update to enter Manual DSM Update Page

    Click Browse to select the update file.

    Click OK to start to update your DSM. The system will reboot automatically when the update completes.

     

    - Your hack, only can be update when you have compatibility loader for this version, for example, arc loader 23.9.10 or higher add support for DSM 7.2.1.

    HP Microserver Gen8 fan replacement?

    @apriliars3 I have a problem trying to fit the power supply fan. I hope you may be able to help. There are three wires (black, red and yellow) on the Noctua fan. The original has only two (black and red). I had to cut the original connector, because the Noctua obviously won't fit. Did you do something with the yellow cable? Additionally, I find the fan is not able to start on it's own. It needs a push to get going. Once going it goes ok though.

    The adaptor has only two.

    I don’t cut any cable.

    I think use super low speed connector. No problems, I have free space and good fresh and cold air. Don´t worry if you have same conditions, psu works well with more temperatures and its reliable for reducing the noise.

    Change fan psu is very easy and reduce the noise.

     

    12 cm fan rear is more complicate and for example, with Noctua and Nvidia Tesla gpu HP Microserver Gen 8 power off because the fan not noise but haven´t high pressure and raise the temperatures with transcoding or any high work.

    Thanks for posting, but I have seen that video. Was just hoping for a few more real world experiences to gauge effectiveness with other fans. Given the popularity of the server, I'm surprised so few seem to have addressed. Though to be fair, the fan is not particularly loud. But with an all SSD system, it's the loudest part now.

    I have changed power supply fan with Noctua and reduce noise like a botfly.

    Some friends change 12 cm fan and need iLO mod with options to modify rpm and in same cases don’t works with Noctua or other fans.

    Help needed HP MS NAS boot drive dead

    First, I think you have DSM 6 and 1.03b or less, and now Synology support files or pat for downloading to DSM 6.2.4.

    If you need to recovery your data need:

    - Install DSM 7 with new loaders and pat from Synology.

    - Install or run live linux for mounting your disks and backup your data.

    Hp Microserver Gen 8 is compatible with last version DSM 7.2.

    I use baremetal or Proxmox with this hardware. I can help you, but you need to learn and read about how can you do.

    La almohada tiene el mismo conocimiento que yo y me dice que no sabe cual de las dos recomendarme. Me sugiere que siga preguntando en los foros oficiales, que seguro alguien con conocimientos me da una respuesta que me pueda ser de ayuda, más que nada, para que no me gaste el dinero en algo que después no pueda funcionar en condiciones para lo que quiero. Muy crack la almohada.

    A día de hoy siempre hay posibilidades de devolución de los componentes y probarlo a tu gusto durante 14 días.

    De los que dices es mejor el N100, sobre todo para uso de docker, Plex y demás es el que se compra.

    Luego ya el tema que quieras tenerlo “nativo” cuando hasta en Unraid se puede montar un DSM, puedes usar Proxmox, o incluso Windows mientras emulas con VMWare o VirtualBox.

    Hay te dejo un Intel 13100 con una RTX 3080, solo hay que saber consultar con la almohada adecuada por las noches.

    Contruccion NAS 24 bahias

    Buenas a todos!
    Vengo a pedir consejos y asi a ver si aprendo un poco y no malgasto dinero.

    Tengo pensado crear una NAS de 24 bahias, crear un RAID5 (TRUENAS) y luego ir metiendole discos segun necesite.
    Trabajo con edicio de videos y transcodificaciones. 

    Habia pennnsado en comprar esta caja ya que tengo espacio suficiente para todo.

    Esta caja las entradas y salidas son de Mini SAS 
    Por lo que entiendo tendre que comprar una controladora PCI para conectar la placa con la caja.

    Discos duros metere 20 TB 6gbs SATA3

    Y a partir de aqui viene mis dudas. 

    ¿Cual es la mejor placa para un NAS? ¿Cual son los puntos mas interesantes?

    RAM
    con 64 gb para empezar me apaño pero quiero tener posibilidad de meterle mas. 


    TARJETA GRAFICA
    Y me imagino que para transcodificar videos es mejor tener una o dos graficas y hacerlo con hardware. 


    FUENTE ALIMENTACION
     
    Suministro de energía redundante (RPS), soporte: SI ¿Merrce la pena? O le meto una modular 


    Me gustaria que me recomendarais caracterisitcas a ver si consigo hacer una lista de los componentes que necesito.

    Hola,

    Nunca has montado un servidor? Porque lo tuyo de NAS poco tiene y parece que es un SAN.

    Lo primero, controladora SAS con discos SATA? No entiendo, no es compatible.

    Placa base para un NAS mejor? Pues la que te permita instalar todo sin problemas, en tu caso una ATX seguramente no sea problema, quizás incluso AMD con Ryzen para tener más núcleos, y que te permita conectar bastantes pci para los sata, o al menos tener nvme para adaptadores sata.

    64GB de ram para edición y transcodificación? Creo que no tira tanto de ram como de gpu. Bueno, entiendo que es por Truenas y zfs que necesita 1GB recomendado por 1TB. Eso lo suples mejor para edición con discos NVME y nic 2,5GB o superior.

    Fuente de alimentación redundante no creo, mejor un SAI y sobre todo una fuente de 1000W o al menos una fuente solo para los 24 discos que consumen un poco bastante.
