Hello everybody,
Maybe a absolute NOOB question but I hope someone will be so kind to give me a awnser. Currently I am running the latest version of DSM 4.3 on an Intel D2700MUD. I just recently looked at the forum again after a while because I wanted to check if there was a update for the new DSM 5.0.
I stumbled across this post and was wondering if this can be installed on my Intel motherboard without EXSI or do I have to wait for a new version from Trantor?
If it is possible where can I find the correct update/install tutorial.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort
Cheers

Hello everybody,
first of all thank for making 4.3 possible. Great effort foor everybody involved. Keep up the good work. What I wanted to know if it is correct that you can't update from 4.2 without losing all your applications/settings.
Is there a particular reason for this why it is not possible.
Thanks for your time and effort
Cheers

Hello everybody,
I made a OVF version for VMware Workstation 9 based on the XPEnology DS3612xs DSM 4.2 build 3211++ (repack v1.2)
This is a complete clean setup. In the tutorial below I will describe the step by step procedure to get this working:
- - Download the OVF file for VMware Workstation (
- In VMware Workstation go to the home tab
- Choose Open a Virtual Machine and select the OVF file
- Name your virtual machine name and import
- DO NOT POWER ON
- After the import select the VM and choose Edit virtual machine settings
- Select Hard Disk 2 (IDE) and on the right side go to Utilities and select Expand
- Change the disk size to the size you want and select Expand (you can’t change it anymore so choose wisely).
- Change the memory/cpu if you want
- Power on the virtual machine- - Find the machine with Synology Assistant (
- Right click on the discovered machine and say connect
- Login with admin and leave the password blank
- Go to Storage Manager
- The Volume Creation Wizard will pop up
- Choose the option Quick and then next
- !!!!Uncheck the 199MB disk!!!! and select next
- Click OK so the disk can be formatted and wait until it is finishedGood luck and fun with your Synology

There is no working modified version 3211 yet. Stay with 3202 for now.

Hello everybody,
I would like some advice on updating my firmware. Currently I am running the version as shown below on a intel D2700MUD:
Modelname: DS3612xs
Current DSM-version: DSM 4.2-3202
I see that 3211 is available. What is the best thing to do? Is there a version 3211 for the DS3612xs on the forum. I can’t find it that’s why I am asking this question. What are my options without losing any data?
Thank you in advance for your advise.
Cheers

Hello,
I am running the XPEnology_DS3612xs_2668 on a Intel D2700MUD motherboard. Everything is working perfect.
The only issue I have is when I do a reboot from the GUI. The http://ip-nas:5000/webman/... Is not accessible. I can still login with SSH but when I give a reboot command nothing happens. Does anyone know what this problem can be and how to fix it. At the moment a manual hard reset is the only option.
For the rest keep up the good work
Cheers

Hello everybody,
I am thinking of setting op my rig with the gnoboot and dsm 5.0. I was wondering what the best setup is:
- 128GB Samsung Pro SSD for DSM and a separate HDD for the shares and data
- 128GB Samsung Pro SSD for caching and a separate HDD for DSM and the data and shares
Thx for the advise
Cheers
