toker Posted April 28, 2024 #1 Posted April 28, 2024 (edited) Hello all, Recently built a DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5 on a old Intel i7 3th Gen, with LSI 9207-8i (IT Firmware) Using Redpill the DSM installation when fine, creating a RAID5 volume completes then within minutes the volume is degraded Since this is new build there is no data, i have deleted RAID5 and created a RAID1 using the same set of Disks (5 x Seagate IronWolf 10TB) MB: Intel DQ77KB CPU: Intel i7 3770S RAM: 16GB Crucial SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 USB: SanDisk 128GB HBA: LSI 9207-8i Disks: 4 x Intel 530 SSDs 256GB, 5 x Seagate Ironwolf 10TB Case: U-NAS 810A tinycore-redpill-uefi.v0.10.0.0 DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5 (updated from DSM 7.2.1 64570 initial build) DS3622xs+ Anyone running into issues using RAID5 or RAID6? or LSI HBA on 7.2.x? thanks Edited April 28, 2024 by toker adding build info Quote

Rhubarb Posted January 5 #3 Posted January 5 Hi @toker and all. My LSI HBA with RAID 6 (SHR2) is also acting weird. I'm running 2 pools of 8 (16TB) drives from the one LSI 9300-16i HBA and am seeing an unwelcome pattern of healthy drives connected to one of the HBA's 4 ports being "failed" (drives 5~8 of Storage Pool 1), causing a degraded pool and requiring a rebuild of the pool and subsequent scrubbing. Running DSM 7.2.1-69057U6. System is an Intel (i7-14700K) with 64GB ECC running on an Asus Pro WS W680-ACE-IPMI in a Fractal Design Define 7 XL case and operational for approx. 6 months. Power supply (Corsair HX1000i) was new also with the build. Have just finished a clean reinstall of DSM using RR loader (v25.1.0) and issues are continuing. After completing a "repair" of Storage Pool 1 @ 4:25:54 this morning, System immediately (3 seconds later @ 4:25:57) declared the Storage Pool 1 as degraded. When I accessed the system sometime later, all drives are marked as healthy, connected and operational. System log shows: 06/01/2025 04:25:57 Error dumbo SYSTEM System Storage Pool [1] degraded [7/8 of drives remaining]. Please repair it. 06/01/2025 04:25:54 Info dumbo System System successfully repaired Storage Pool 1 with Drive 8. Strange; first time I've seen this with all drives connected, healthy and operational and DSM reporting that the Pool is degraded. Quote
Rhubarb Posted January 6 #4 Posted January 6 Decided to remove Storage Pool 1 which holds /volume1 and re-create the Pool and volume. Hopefully that may resolve the issues. Quote
