nutter Posted November 23, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2023 Hi all, I've been looking forward to full volume LUKS encryption since it was announced and my initial testing with DSM running under KVM in Proxmox shows that it would not successfully create or mount drives. The key vault also didn't seem to work. When running DSM on bare metal, everything seems to work fine around full volume encryption. I tried passing the drives from my bare metal device to a virtual one with Arc loader and got it to boot and successfully unlock the key vault, however it can't successfully mount the volumes. Has anyone encountered this, or had a similar use case that caused the same issue? Any insight appreciated on what's different in a VM vs bare metal, or the technical implementation of full disk encryption that might affect this would be appreciated. nutter Posted November 25, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted November 25, 2023 I managed to self-resolve, like in my last topic, lol. Putting this out there for anyone who might encounter the same issue. The problem was that the processor on the VM was set to the default kvm64, and was not exposing the "aes" capability to the VM. I switched the processor to host (my machine is running an i7-3770, which supports aes), and enabled aes just in case. Hope this helps someone someday. Orphée Posted November 25, 2023 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2023 (edited) Hello, Thanks for your own reply. May I ask how did you set LUKS encryption ? Thank you.
