Dear Xpenology Supporters,

I have a question about my old DS710+

Unfortunately it has been reset, and Synology doesn't provide the .PAT for DSM 5.
I tried to install some PATs found on archive.org but none of them works, the system ask for a more recent PAT.
It asks for at least version 5592 of DSM5.

Is there a way to install an Xpenology on that specific Synology server ?

Best regards

Hey, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately none of the .PAT file are working. For every single one of them, the system start the process and ends with failure saying the file might be damaged.

I took out the chip with the USB Mini A port, I can access the files:

99MB volume

checksum.syno
grub_cksum.syno
rd.gz

vender

zImage

16MB volume
boot (folder)

-grub.conf
-e2fs_stage1_5
-stage1
-stage2

rd.gz
zImage

Is there something I can do ?
I guess I could try to install Xpenology, but I need the tutorial and firmware :)

Best regards

W00t !

I think I found a way to save my DS710+

I used Jun's loader to try to install DSM 6.0.2
So I flashed a USB drive with Jun's loader, and plug it in the DS710+

It was impossible to boot on the USB drive, so I removed the USB thingy chip inside the Synology.

I was able to boot on Jun's loader and try to install some pat files.
I had the same error as with the original loader.. file is corrupt (13)

I finally found a pat file that was working:

DSM_DS3615xs_25556.pat

But unfortunately after reboot, the install was not working. I guess it is because the pat is not compatible with Jun's loader.

So I tried another version of Jun's loader, 6.1, without any success, all my pat's were refused.

Lastly, I tried Jun's loader V1.03b for DSM 6.2 (current), and I was able to install DSM 6.2 with this pat:

DSM_DS3615xs_23739.pat

So right now my server is booting with the loader on a USB drive. I wonder if I can use the original USB thingy loader, and flash it with Jun's loader.
Any thoughts ?

All the pat file I used were for DS3615xs, to match Jun's loader.

Best regards

Well.. what I thought was right.

I was able to flash Jun's loader on the 08-0220USB13 chip.
My DS710+ is working fine :)

I made a backup of the chip just in case.

Cheers and long life to our old servers.
