I was able to install on N40L with current release (1.0.1.0) of tinycore. I had monitor and keyboard hooked up.

  1. disable C1E in the BIOS if not already done
  2. boot to tinycore and let it go through updates. A restart might be required after it finishes (don't remember)
  3. I followed the instructions https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/blob/main/README.md
  •  - Choose a Dev Mod handling method ( I picked DDSML)
  •  - Choose a Model (DS3622xs+)
  •  - Choose a Serial Number (I let my generate a random serial)
  •  - Choose MAC address (I chose to get real mac address)
  •  - everything else was left at default
  •  - Build the loader
  1. reboot and change the grub loader selection to the first entry
  2. at this point I used Web Assistant to locate the NAS and start installation
  3. the nas would reboot, but Web Assistant would not reconnect
  4. I noticed that there were three options (1. boot into DSM, 2. patch after upgrade, 3. tinycore). So I tried patch after upgrade and let it reboot
  5. I was able to connect and start using DSM

I only tried it once and it worked so it is possible that there are steps that aren't necessary.
