[Solved] Upgrading to DSM 7 using Automated RedPill Loader, Can't see my NAS anymore!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a working DS3615xs 6.2 installation of 8 disks using synology SHR.

cpu intel i5-7500

mb Asus Z170 Pro Gaming

I saw some members reported they successfully upgraded from 6.2 to 7.1 using ARPL.

I downloaded ARPL from https://github.com/fbelavenuto/arpl/releases/download/v1.1-beta2a/arpl-1.1-beta2a.img.zip

and choosed the following:

- Model: DS3615xs

- Build: 42661

- Serial: Generated serial

clicked "Build Loader" then "Boot Loader"

tried to access the NAS from http://192.168.8.8

nothing!, browser says: This site can’t be reached, 192.168.8.8 took too long to respond., ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

192.168.8.8 has been always reserved by router for the NAS computer.

I repeated the whole process again, from writing arpl.img to a flash drive until it told me to access NAS from  http://192.168.8.8

Same thing: This site can’t be reached!!

the system seem to be freezed on this screen, does no respond to keyboard

please help what should I do now?

Good news!

After I saw @flyride comments about DS3615xs being obsolete and advise to use DS3622xs+ instead I changed the

model to DS3622xs+ and installation was a success and I can access my upgraded NAS DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 4 😀

Hope this will benefit someone else having a similar problem.

Also it might be a bug with ARPL and @fbelavenuto may want to fix it.
