Defur Posted November 6, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2022 (edited) Hi, Im running DSM 6 for over a few solid years on my old server and i was wondering if i can update to DSM 7? I checked the other forum posts but i could not find the right answers based on my current setup. Its running pretty good with Radarr, Sonarr, Jackett, Pi-hole, Plex and Transmission in docker so i still don't think i need to update the hardware. Current setup: AMD Turion II Neo N40L, DS3615xs 4bay, DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 6. TIA Edited November 6, 2022 by Defur
0 Peter Suh Posted November 7, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2022 There is a relatively well-documented success story of the N40L. Since it is in Korean, please use a translator on Google or Chrome. https://www.clien.net/service/board/cm_nas/17158620 The situation of newly installing DSM7 and the situation of installing DSM 7 from DSM 6 do not seem to be much different. Because, you have to handle the upgrade of DSM 7 through the control panel inside DSM 6. After that, if you don't replace the USB stick for the DSM7, it will recover or go into a kernel panic state inside the DSM 6's Jun's loader. This is because this new bootloader covers everything so that it works stably when it is replaced with a loader corresponding to REDPILL DSM7 and booting of DSM 7 starts. 0 MaloNantes Posted December 12, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2022 Hello, I have a HP Proliant G7 N40L, with 8GB of RAM, and I would like to install XpeNology on it, but I can't... Unfortunately, all the links I find are dead, and I never get further than the detection on Synology Assistant when I find other links. I've searched for tutorials, I've tried with several versions, but I always get stuck in the same place. Preferably, I would like to "transform" it into a DS3615XS. Could someone please help me? Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) I recommend you to try M SHELL for TCRP, which I developed. It has evolved a lot from the old TCRP and has been changed to enable loader builds using convenient MENU. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/releases/tag/v0.9.3.0-1 A user guide is also shared on Github at the link below. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/blob/main/README.md C1E must be disabled. And DS3615xs is no longer supported by M SHELL. It is recommended to install DS3622xs+, which has already had success stories in N40L and is the most stable. And finally, the N40L must You need to build it with Build the jot mode loader . friend mode is not supported. After them instaled 7.1.1 and update to actual version 7.2. Everything works very well. Bios in my N40L is not updated,as factory made.
