Badger Posted September 12, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2022 I've been running DSM 7.1 update 1 (DS3622xs+) for many months now. I was going to attempt (again) to run an update, so I shut down DSM.... entered BIOS to make sure my clock was set correctly... It was correct so I exit BIOS without changes..... and then this: GRUB loading. Welcome to GRUB! error: unknown filesystem Entering rescue mode... grub rescue> _ Rebooted several times and the above is all I get. Am I toast? Badger Posted September 12, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Well, I built new loader (on new flash drive) per the TCRP tutorial (version 8 of TCRP). Upon boot to DSM all good. Settings, apps, data all intact. Even updated (from U1 to U4) without problem... so I'm happy! Edited September 12, 2022 by Badger

Badger Posted September 13, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted September 13, 2022 Thanks, but no uefi on this old mobo. Strange though that I could find no boot directory, or any OS for that matter... on any of the partitions on HD0.
l80jas Posted December 4, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 4, 2023 Hi Badger, Can you explain the steps to take to recover from the Usb grub rescue screen?
