musicman10 Posted January 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2016 Hello Newbie here, I'm running Synology DSM from my PC with boot loader usb stick DSM 5.2-5592 I recently upgraded my DSM from the control panel to version DSM 5.2-5644 update 2,3, My question is: Is this normal or any dangerous , normally they use a new boot loader on USB stick with an image from http://xpenology.me/downloads/ what do you guys think ? brantje Posted January 23, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2016 Take out usb stick, upgrade bootloader Download new version of DSM, do not install it yet. Plug the USB stick in the same port. Install the new DSM version Profit And as always, make a backup.
wigwam Posted January 25, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2016 So I'm assuming 5644 is now safe to use? I recall reading it was a no-no a while ago. Is there any benefit to upgrading?
