Benoire Posted October 3, 2015 #1 Posted October 3, 2015 Hi, I'm using the latest DMS 5.2 version and noticed that write cache wasn't enabled for my drives. I tried to enable it, but DSM gives the following error: The operation failed. Please log in to DSM again and retry. Does this work for others, or is it a consequence of the way the boot system works to get DSM operating? Thanks, Chris
dszego Posted October 8, 2015 #2 Posted October 8, 2015 I've got this same problem on mine... But if I ssh in and "dmesg|more" to see the boot logs, I notice that on my 3Ware SATA RAID controller, "write cache not available" or something like that. So, it's probably just an artifact of Synology not having a good way of dealing with cache not being available on a controller, which would never happen on OEM hardware.
Benoire Posted October 8, 2015 Author #3 Posted October 8, 2015 Thanks, I'll have a look later... Just thought it was weird as the same controller in windows can enable write caching...
