JulesL Posted August 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2018 Hi, I’m new here so let me introduce myself. Im Jules, between France and Switzerland. My project is to build a machine with 2 VM - PFSense - XPenology I don’t know exactly what type of hardware is compatible with XPenology and what type of hardware will correspond with my future setup. So I have already got a DS216Plus for surveillance. But I would like to create a more powerful installation that will be use for photo and files transfers + Backup I have a 500GB SSD that I can use for the cache and I will need 5 TB of storage minimum. What is the best plan for HDD (Type of RAID?) I’ve still got some questions: Is anyone running Xpenology on a VM ? Which software do you use for Virtualisation? Thank you Jules

JulesL Posted August 10, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted August 10, 2018 Thank you, I was just wondering if you could give me some advices for the CPU. I have no idea of the load, so I don’t know if I should buy a Pentium/I3/I5. And if the task of DSM are more about single core => Better clockspeed or multicore => more cores Thank you jules
