jamesah2008 Posted February 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2014 I was having trouble with sabnzbd and folder permissions so I tried to do a simple reboot. Now I can't login with any usernames through the web UI. The webserver thing from synology works but none of the other services I've installed are working except SSH. No sabnzbd, sickbeard, headphones, etc. If there's any way to fix this without killing my entire installation that'd be great. I have full SSH access although I don't know what I should do to fix it. Any help is appreciated. I'm running baremetal on a gen8 microserver.

Diverge Posted February 28, 2014 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2014 it's a common issue it seems. read the official synology forums for dsm 5 beta http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewforum.php?f=
gnoboot Posted February 28, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2014 To force DSM to boot properly, you need to directly login to console and then follow commands below. gnoboot> synobootseq -h Copyright (c) 2003-2012 Synology Inc. All rights reserved. Usage: synobootseq [COMMAND] --set-start-etcrc --set-check-fs --set-start-services --set-boot-done --get --is-ready gnoboot > synobootseq --set-boot-done gnoboot > synobootseq --is-ready gnoboot> /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh start gnoboot> /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S95sshd.sh start Fix the broken service... jamesah2008 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted February 28, 2014 Thanks gnoboot! You are the man! I'm logged in now. Patience paid off for me waiting on a reply. I began to get panicky wanting to start from scratch, which would have taken hours to reconfigure.

jamesah2008 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted February 28, 2014 You need to SSH into your synology using root and the password is your admin password. Beware, I'm not sure it's a permanent fix. For me, it appears to just get me far enough to login. Not everything is normal. Upon reboot, I have to SSH into it again. Diverge Posted February 28, 2014 Share #8 Posted February 28, 2014 it might be related to these: http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic ... 32&t=81398 http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic ... 32&t=80742 In the first one is a link to a new pat that patches login. Not sure what it does, or if it's for your specific login issue. If you're brave, test it out
jamesah2008 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted February 28, 2014 These don't appear to be related to my issue. I'm not running DSM5 yet. Under the login screen it would simply say "System is getting ready. Please login later."
justgosh Posted July 16, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2014 Issue just popped up on 4.3. Some of the services were running fine. Rebooting did not resolve. synobootseq --set-boot-done synobootseq --is-ready /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh start and everything was happy again, Thanks! EDIT - Actually, I spoke too soon. I'm getting The operation failed. Please log in to DSM again and retry. Errors throughout the configuration.
torobotaki Posted September 7, 2015 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2015 gnoboot I just made an account to thank you. Second time I've had this problem, and the previous one was a mess... How can I send you a beer?
