    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Ok perfect, thanks for the reply. I'll hang around a bit longer. Do we know if the devs are working on an official dsm 6 loader?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Hey guys, Sorry to ask this please dont shoot me down. I dont want to read through 300 pages. I am currently still on DSM 5.2-5967 Update 1 Using the official DSM installer. Is there a way I can upgrade to the latest 6.1 using this loader? If so is there a way I can upgrade without losing all my data? I am using a dedicated system for this. Also I am running a few packages from http://packages.synocommunity.com/ Namely, Sonarr, CP, NZBGet, do you know if these are compatible with 6.1? Thanks and sorry if this has been asked a million times.
  3. Quicknick, is there a guide to upgrading, and do you know if its stable enough to upgrade without losing packages and configuration?
  4. I've just read back the last 3 pages but those are all ESXi hosts, I'm running baremetal. I see the differences of this one having more options from installation. But ye still need a link to a guide or confirmation it will work.
  5. I have a few questions, so please dont shoot me, as I dont want to read through all 50 pages. 1) Is it safe to upgrade from DSM 5.2-5967 Update 1 to DSM 6.0.2-8451 without losing any of my stuff, and packages? I have PLEX. Sonarr, CP, HeadPhones, NZBget, and a few other packages installed, I'd really like to not have to re-install and re-configure it all. 2) Is there an upgrade guide I can follow? In the opening section, its still blank. I'm sure someone must have done an upgrade by now? 3) Whats the main diff between this or Jun's DSM 6 package? And are the Core Devs going to release an installer at some point? Thanks

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Whoop, does this mean they can start working on an official bootloader?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Are there any moves to make it an official bootloader or for the team to take this and improve on it like previous 5.2 releases? Or are they still waiting for Synology to release the source? If so I am still a bit undecided... I have no need for DSM 6 except my own desire to be on the latest and greatest! But if it would be worth waiting a few more months I can do that too

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Read Jun's opening post in this thread and read this post > viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22100 and yes it works for Baremetal builds. Not all the drivers that have been supported in the past are available using Jun's loader though, which could be an issue if your hardware isn't supported. Thanks for the link! Will follow that through.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

So wait... Is this a new bootloader we can use to upgrade from DSM 5 to DSM 6? If so without going back through 130 pages, could anyone please point me in the right direction to upgrade from 5.2-5967.1 (17/07/2016) to your 6.0.2? And is this running fine on normal setups not just on VM's? So I can upgrade my current box? Thanks all, and appreciate your hard work.
  10. Thanks for the replies. Ye I already have everything, so will upgrade to ECC next time I need to do a rebuild. Thanks all
  11. Hey guys, I'm sure its been brought up many times, but with Xpenology is ECC ram worth it? Are there any nice/good looking server boards that support ECC? As my server is on display and currently using an Asus Sabertooth board with a custom paint job. The reason why I didnt go server before was because the boards really suck. So wondering if there are any nicer looking ECC boards these days and if its worth upgrading just for ECC?
  12. Awesome, no rush... Like I say, was just curious from previous DSM launches how long it took. Love the project, so keep up the good work, its very much appreciated.
  13. Hey guys, I know devs are waiting on Synology releasing their tools to the open source project page. But I am just wondering if Synology will? They have put a lot of work into DSM6 with VM and Docker and so on... Will they just release that to public? If they would, do anyone know roughly how long they take, like when they released DSM5 or DSM5.1, how long till they released it to the public? *disclaimer* I'm not trying to rush it, or harass the devs, I'm purely curious and not having a go at anyone.
  14. I see everyone is installing and saying its safe no need to reboot... BUT has anyone actually rebooted since the update?
