  1. I have a DS1511+ running DSM 4.3-3776 and would be pleased to provide anything you want from it. Chris
  2. Absolutely right. XPEH, thanks for the correction. Not sure why I missed the word NOT. "as mentioned above" was referring to the comment that they were not evidence of being hacked. Must be getting old or just not being careful enough when typing.
  3. This is a post from the N40L threads (http://www.avforums.com/forums/networking-nas/1786235-xpenology-discussion-2.html#post19299933). I'm just putting here for completeness. I agree that it's pretty unlikely but thought that I should investigate/post all the same. I've checked my own firewall monitors for the last week. My two newest SynoloHacs x.x.x.190 and x.x.x.180 are not making may calls to the outside world. I would have expected more traffic if there was a problem but I've not yet tracked down all the places it's tried to reach. As mentioned above... Failed SSH logins are NOT evidence that DSM has been hacked. any/all ssh servers attached to the internet get probed regularly. Personally I think that it's crazy not to use cert based authentication on ssh and a more obscure port than 22 on a machine that's accessible publicly but that's a discussion for a different thread. I continue to monitor but so far no indications other than the sites reported above, some of which still need to be checked out. My gut feel is that we're OK but I'm still nervous and would love to hear from whomever compiled the release that we're using and at some point would like to compile myself.
  4. I've built a few boxes using N54Ls and so far they are working great! However, I was just sent this link and I thought I should share: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showt...19#post2238519 Pretty scary IF it's true but that's a big IF. This guy goes not say which build he's used. I've tried to get to the xpenology site to see if anything was posted there but it seems to be down. Although it's pretty unlikely this is true, I thought that I should investigate/post all the same. I've checked my own firewall monitors for the last week. 5. DJBenson (and anyone else who might wonder), the USB driver files on PasteBin are UUEncoded. if you are on linux use uudecode to change them. See the linux man pages for instructions. If you are on windows. Try UUD64Win. It's free and can decode UUEncloded files. I think that it's made my marks-labs (http://www.marks-lab.com/ but best that you google to find it. I am sure there is a mac equivalent but I do not know one offhand.
