  1. Huh... I tried to do this and my rig is saying, in red text at the Control Panel / DSM Update tab:

Insufficient capacity for this update. The system partition requires at least 350 MB.

I have 2x 2TB in here as basic disks, each has well over 500GB free........... what gives? How can I check to see what XPEN thinks my "system partition" is??

I did have a 64GB SSD in at one point but have since removed it so all I have are the 2x 2TB SATA's connected to my onboard SATA controller.

  2. You may want to forego the RDM route and consider buying an add-on PCI card and doing hardware passthrough instead.

LSI or the IBM m1015 are good bets so long as they support 2TB+ drive sizes. $100 or so is about the going rate.

The older cards will only do 1.5TB or below so be mindful of that. In my case, my Xpen rig has 2TB drives on the ONBOARD sata controllers and I have a cheapie $20 LSI card that has a Kingston 64GB SSD for my datastores and I passthrough the entire onboard controller/dedicate it to XPEN which has my 2TB drives which are all set as BASIC DISKS. I don't do any hardware level RAID and I don't do any software RAID. I feel more comfortable with basic disks.

  3. The removal of that site is just horrible, absolutely horrible. The tutorials were wonderful and you can tell there was a lot of passion there by the site owner for putting it all together to help out fellow nerds and enthusiasts. I am really pissed off about it on a grand scale.

I just made a new thread looking for the CPU THROTTLE tutorial. If I was clairvoyant and could have predicted the actions of GreedNyology, Inc I would have save all tutorials in off-line mode.

I see in this thread someone posted "wayback machine" links but they are not working for me. I am seeking the CPU THROTTLE tutorial if anyone is kind enough to share it. I did download the files before Satanology came along with their "cease and desist" to the wonderful site op who was hosting PUBLIC DOMAIN / FREEWARE files and self written tutorials, but am unable to locate a tutorial from any other source. Thank you.

  4. I just discovered that the xpen .nl site is gone - very, very, very upsetting to see that.

As a new user and operator of Xpenology (within past 2 months) that site and the TUTORIALS were invaluable to me. I am very displeased to see that the site owner was forced to remove all content due to Synology greed/bullying. That action has completely soured me to Synology and I will not ever purchase their product. /end rant.

To the point of my thread. Before the wonderful aforementioned site had to be forcibly removed, I downloaded the .sh script and the win app that were part of the CPU THROTTLE tutorial. I read the tutorial when it was available but did not get a chance to set it up until last night which is when I saw the removal of all content. I immediately checked this forum hoping to find a tutorial and did see a related thread, however, the linked stuff does not work.

TL;DR - Does anyone have the CPU THROTTLING TUTORIAL, please?!
